Fantastic holiday in beautiful surroundings.
Food – choice of starters, salad bar, choice of 3 mains followed by big choice of desserts – menu changes daily and the calibre is good as long as you aren’t a Michelin Star snob. House red wine atrocious but white wines are good as long as you aren’t a wine snob. Breakfast large choice. Thursday night is Greek night and the staff go a lot of effort to make it brilliant in terms of food and entertainment. Vegetarian menu large choice but needs some more development and creativity – tended to be bland and the same vegetarian menu every day for 10 days we were there. Dress code is relaxed casuals but this is 5 star hotel so don't turn up in flipflops and scantily dressed from the beach - smart jeans and a shirt or smart t-shirt is perfect for the warm evenings.
Staff – very hardworking from dawn till dusk, polite, warm and very helpful. Marios the maitre of the restaurant is as good as they get. Maria & George at the reception desk very friendly and helpful. Can someone please get the reception staff a stool or a chair – standing for 12 hours is too much. It's clear that the hotel have invested in some of the best staff you will find anywhere in the world.
Room – cleaned daily and very comfortable with an excellent terrace with awesome views of the starry night sky. Only 2 English TV channels: CNN and BBC News 24 great if you love rolling news but aside from that useless. Would be great to have some movie channels in English. No tea making facilities in the room. A very clean hotel (staff cleaning from morning till late evening).
Views – spectacular of the ‘Navarone’ mountain and the sea is exquisite. Warm shallow sandy areas to bob up and down in or take a gentle paddle. Lots of sweet goats and the cats for which Rhodes is known are adorable.
Lindos – 9 Euros by taxi there. 6 Euros back to the hotel. 1.60 Euros by bus which is reliable but always 15 minutes late. Taxi drivers have fixed fees book of fares that they consult around the Island so you won’t be ripped off.
Pool area – clean, well kempt and plenty of sunbeds either by the pool or on the seafront. Don’t lose your towel card. Poolside restaurant 3.90 euros soft drink, small meal approx 9 euros and a larger dish approx 14 euros. Staff again very attentive, warm and helpful. An area of children to play with slides and swings – felt very safe. Be careful when swimming further out in the sea as – this applies to any place without a lifeguard.
Internet – side room next to the reception that staff let you use whenever you like at no cost.
The Tripadvisor Winner 2012 plaque is well deserved.
