I have just got back from two weeks staying in the Lambis Studios (5th October-20th October 2011). We were a party of four, my partner 26, our son 2.5, my partners mother 45 and myself 23.
When we first arrived in Rhodes we were a bit delayed at the airport due to the strikes in Greece so it was really good to be greeted by such a clean, spacious apartment. As we had been travelling all night we went straight to bed, and when we woke up we had such a pleasant suprise when looking out from our balcony. It was really beautiful. The gardens are stunning and extremely well kept, the pool is perfectly sized for the amount of apartments and plenty of sunbeds. The little toddler bit at the end is perfect for small children to paddle in. There is a bar which serves food and drink, you can also get a key for your safe for 6 euros (i think). There is not a reception at the Lambis, everything is done via the bar. There is also a computer you can use, at a small charge. The food was reasonably priced and also very nice. They also serve some lovely cocktails at the bar. There is also a small climbing frame/play area for children.
The staff at the Lambis really do make you feel at home, Vangelise and his son Dimitris are lovely and Vangelis was fantastic with our son, and i noticed with all the children staying at the Lambis, he had made the effort to learn all their names and always made the effort to have a chat. The lady who works at the bar is also very nice, not sure of her name but nothing was too much trouble!
We chose the Lambis as somewhere for us to sleep, and planned to be out most of the time. As the place was so lovely my partners mother actually spent most of her holiday by the pool. Everyone staying at the Lambis were lovely and made the effort to speak and it really was a lovely atompshere. Many guests were returning customers who go out 2 or 3 times a year so they gave us lots of advice on where to go, meals out etc.
We went to pefkos a few times, unfortuantly there was a storm whilst we were away and some of the sunbeds and parasols were broken and spread accross the beach, so we preferred Lindos' main beach. We went out on the pedalos several times, costing 10euros for an hour, then jumped of and went snorkelling. It was amazing, the beaches are picture perfect with crystal blue seas. There are many beach bars/restaurants and we really recommend "Nefeli" where we brought some lovely baguettes/salads/club sandwiches for lunch.
We also went to the water park, it was a really good day and as we were out of peak season we didnt have to queue! There is a free transfer from the bus station opposite the Lindos Ice Bar, but we went by taxi, just make sure you haggle a price before you get in!
The Lindos Ice Bar is also really good, but make sure you are prepared by wearing warm clothes.
It is a good 10/15 minute walk in the town, but there is a short cut behind the Lindos view. Its quite a steep hil down into the town and can be a bit much on the way back up, but we managed everytime with a pushchair and its good excercise after all the eating at the fantastic restaurants and Tavernas.
We tried several different places to eat, but we most definately recommend the Acropolis, which is also owned by the same owner of the Lambis. We ate here 5 times and cannot fault anything about a single meal. Quick and effecient service and the waiters were brilliant, even when our son got restless! Also very reasonably priced. Vangelis also works here in the evening and he will be sure to remember you from staying at the Lambis!
Its also worth noting that if you have a late flight, then checkout is 10am in the morning, but for 20euros you can keep your room till 7pm, which is a must!
Only critisism i have is that the Double bed is two single pushed together, like mos places abroad, and they kept slipping apart, and our poor son kept falling down the middle. Just a little tip, we used our luggage straps to tie the legs together, easy resolved!
Also a couple of nights we, and most of ourblock had no hot water, but after speaking to Dimitris it was quickly resolved.
This was our first time in Rhodes and the Lambis, but we will definately be back as it was fantastic!
Ask for ground floor, pool facing, we stayed in room11, if we had had a first floor it would have be...
