Hello my partner and I have just come back from a two nights stay at the hotel. First impressions were really friendly staff, very tired looking decor.
Our room was towards the back of the hotel, very quiet, well sized room and huge bed! (great as my other half is 6'4), decor in room very tired, holes in the wall were something once was, a missing tile in the bathroom and 'industrial style' vinyl flooring, bathroom was clean with plenty of hot water. Nothing plush just 'servicable'.
There was a bit of carpet that looked like it had been cut?...showing the frayed hessian backing and unfortunately the cleaner hadn't hoovered as there was the previous occupiers crumbs all over the carpet beside the bed. We did a £29.00 a night deal for two of us...if I had paid £49.00 I would have refused the room.
We asked for papers on both mornings and neither of them were delivered - and they tried to charge us for them!
We stayed for a meal on the first night, Haddock and chips and scampi and chips served with a mini gravy boat of very thick and stodgy mushy peas. Not very appetising, we both opted for puddings.... £5.29 for three very tiny scoops of ice cream! my other half had apple pie which was ok.
Breakfasts were really nice, there was an option of sweet pastries on one day but not on the next? in fact we were the only ones eating breakfast on Monday morning- maybe the pastries were a weekend treat?
The staff are the only saving grace for this hotel, they are lovely, nothing is too much trouble and they gave us fresh milk when we asked as I dislike plastic potted long life milk.
This place needs a good scrub, lick of paint and more up to date fixtures and fittings and then maybe they could justify their full price rates.
Typical 'pub chain' food....maybe they could go for a more local 'fresh food' approach.
They have a potential gem here.....please improve and watch your profit and your customer base soar!
