Just returned from a 10 day break at the Vasco with my wife and we both agree that it was a superb hotel to go to if you want some peace and quiet. I know it's only a 3 star hotel but it's a lovely place to be, right on the beach, so close, that if you fell of your sunbed, of which there are loads around a superb pool, you'd land on the beach!!!
The hotel itself was spotless, no smells, no mess and there are always maids cleaning everywhere. Our room was cleaned every day, the towels are changed every day as well and the room we were allocated was huge!!! You get two 3/4 beds, with quilts and I've never had such a good sleep as I had while we stayed here, just close the door and put the air con on if you get too warm. Our room had a lovely balcony that was partial sea view and partial road view, we were right at the far end on the fourth floor and were very happy with everything we had. There's a flat screen telly if you want, which has 3 English channels but why would you need a T.V. when you've got miles of clean beach to go and enjoy, along with a lovely town that has loads of bars and places to eat but without loads of discos, drunks and neon signs everywhere, sheer bliss. The pool area is kept clean and there a snack bar there as well if it's too much trouble to walk to a cafe just outside the hotel.
The food was as can be expected in a 3 star, there was always plenty of choice, it was always hot with bucket loads of choice for breakfast and dinner.. Breakfast had all the usual foods you could ever want, from meats and cheeses, to eggs and bacon, although the sausage was a bit of an aquired taste, probably a dozen or so hot dishes and the same amount of cold as well each evening, along with a chef who's sole job is to grill various meats each night. There was a good choice of desserts, ice cream and for those of you who can't forget about eating healthily while on holiday, loads of fresh fruit every night. You couldn't fault the food in anyway at all and take that from someone who can only be described as having a healthy appetite!!! If you come out of any meal hungry, it's your own fault!! The only slight grumble about the restaraunt, would be that another couple of waiters would be good to help serve drinks, but when you went for you next course, the table was always cleared away so it was ready to sit down at and enjoy your next course.
Outside of the hotel was a really nice, quiet, clean and friendly town with loads of bars, cafes and eating pleaces. no loud, banging music, so if you wanted a quiet stroll to help walk your dinner off, this was a perfect place to be, flat, well lit and clean, what more would you want for a relaxing holiday??Oh and did I mention the cracking beach??? Miles of it to stroll along in either direction.
This was our first visit to the Vasco and we'll definetly be going back, if you're in need of a place to switch off, relax and enjoy one of the best beaches I've been on, then this isn't a bad place to go for it.
