Our stay started relatively good - we've requested (via e-mail) a room in the upper floors facing the pool and the sea...and almost got exactly that - except for the sea. Try requesting a room in the upper floors (4/5) that are in the section beneath the hotel sign.

My biggest complaint is about the noisy cleaners. Even though we've always had our "Do not disturb" sign on, every morning at around 8:30 they literary used to storm neighbouring rooms like a SWAT team. Besides, the conditioning system on the roof is very noisy - every night I got an impression there was a busy airport operating on the roof of the hotel.

My other complaint is about the lazy state of the hotel: the corridor carpet is in embarrassing condition, some restaurant cutlery is too, and that's not cool at all. Moving on to the sports section... oh dear, the ping pong rackets are painfully grubby. And that's for a 4* hotel. They also have a football/basketball court, except, both basketball hoops are relegated to the corner and... they don't have neither of the balls! And that's again - for a 4* hotel - and the Spaniards - the recent European champions in football and basketball. Well, now they do have a basket ball - I had to buy one myself and leave it as a gift (if you see the ball that says "a 6 € gift for a 4* hotel :)" go ahead and play - it's yours). Also, as there is no fridge in the rooms, after the evening dinner I've requested a plastic bucket for ice and the staff (in the reception and the bar) simply didn't want to give it to me. Apart from that, though, the staff is really nice and helpful (except for one guy in a blue jacket at the reception - avoid asking him, if you can.)

The ripping off - it seems that hotel is aimed at squeezing the contents of your wallet. A bicycle rent cost 4 euros for an hour! :) Besides, apparently you can only get the bikes from the "entertainers", who come to work only at around 7, which is dinner time... You can weight your flight luggage - but that's gonna cost you 1 euro. There's a drink dispenser on every floor, but the drinks cost as much as in the town bars. A small can of San Miguel costs 2.10 euros, and if that's not enough, the machine dispenses you... a can of Cruzcampo (which, at the hotel restaurant, is priced at 1.70)... Go figure.

To me, the food was average and repetitive. The Chinese theme was a bit of a joke and they just can't cook the seafood. And don't even think about opening the lid of the soup bowls... The eggs are really undercooked and the croissants over-burnt and not that fresh. Desserts are quite poor and the omelets are not really four-star either. But for all their culinary faults, they serve champagne in the morning(!), which is really weird :)

My Trip Advice is go spend some time on the net and find a smaller, cozier and cheaper place to stay - like Sant March or Fonda Lluna http://www.fondalluna.com/fondalluna/eng/inicio.php
I simply fell in love with the latter place browsing the streets of oldtown.

If you're dining out, try Santa Marta (inside the premises of the castle), although it seemes they have closed now for another season and two very friendly and warm places: (pizzeria) Da Nino and Lluis.

Have a good stay. Tossa is a great place! (and you must visit Girona!)

We are so disappointed and upset. We originally booked for two weeks at this hotel and came home after one. Like another reviewer, we checked on Trip Advisor before we booked and thought this sounded lovely. I can only imagine that the good reviews are from people working in the travel industry who have been sent here.

If you are looking for a nice evening meal, forget it. As a couple of middle aged ladies in the lift said "wonder what the slop will be tonight". I strongly advise you to eat out. Food quality is bad. Avoid anything that doesn't look like fresh vegetables or fruit. Everything else tastes as though it started life as cheap powder from a packet. The deserts, which although pretty, are even worse. Breakfast was heaps better.

Apart from the hotel building looking tired and unloved, the pool area looked the same. The palm trees were scruffy (doesn't take much to take all the dead leaves off) and there were no flowers. - Oh, I lie, there were some. There was a row of hanging baskets with plastic (I kid you not) geraniums and ivy by the pool bar. The pool area was also crowded with rows and rows of dubious looking sunbeds about 6 inches apart.

When we booked this hotel we were expecting it to be on a par with Bahia Principe Costa Adeje in Teneriffe which is also a 4*, but which knocks spots of this one.

My advice is DON'T STAY HERE. In my opinion it certainly not a 4* and it rates as the worst holiday we've ever had.

My daughters and I have just returned from a very relaxing holiday at the above hotel. We were all in need of our longed for holiday and enjoyed it immensley.
The entertainment team were very friendly and encouraged us, among others to join in activities throughout the day and into the evening. These included archery, bike rides and karaoke [my eldest daughter joined in with this and had a brilliant night] Mickel and his male side-kick definitely deserve a mention as they made everybody seem very welcome.
The choice of food was very good, but as the week went by, I thought that the some of it was a little fussy and I longed for a straight forward choice. My second daughter is vegetarian and she did seem to struggle to find things that she liked other than eggs and cheese.
The hotel is very well placed, about a ten minute walk to the beach through the town, it has numerous cafe's, restaurants and bars facing the beach as well as others down the side roads. We were VERY lucky with the weather apparently and enjoyed the warm, sunny sea breeze. I would definitely recommend it.

Well, this is the first time Tripadvisor has let us down. We booked this hotel on the basis of the high ranking but were disappointed with just about everything. I have read and re-read some of the previous reviews and wonder if we´re talking about the same hotel! We were allocated a non-pool view room despite asking for one and when we asked to be moved, a very grumpy receptionist said the hotel was full. He said he´d try and move us if and when. He didn´t. Odd, that, as the restaurant staff said how quiet it was, being the end of the season and all. So I guess he forgot despite us reminding him, couldn´t be bothered or was indifferent. Not a good start. So what about the rest of the hotel?

There was a review earlier in this listing which hit the nail on the head. This is a mass-market, sausage factory of a hotel. Get 'em in, squeeze them for as many extras as you can and kick ´em out after a week or two. The pools are virtually unuseable as they are soooo cold. Breakfast is good, with good fruit juice, coffee, fruit, fried eggs etc. but the bacon is the greasy-50%-fat rasher you seem to find in Spain. Dinner, however, is either really bland, luke warm and mediocre or REALLLY salty. Go B&B and eat out in any of the excellent restaurants and bars in Tossa. The most scandalous thing is the extras (2 Euros a day for the safe? In a 4* hotel? Come on!) and the price of drinks. There are no minibars in the room (so you can´t buy drinks elsewhere and refrigerate them) but there is a drinks machine (2.10 Euros for a small Coke!!!!) and ice machine. So buy drinks in the supermarkets 0.80 Euros for the same soft drink and use the hotel ice.

The final point I´d make is the noise. For a purpose-built hotel, it´s really noisy. You will be kept awake with banging doors, TV sets in the next room, people talking in the coridoors, flushing toilets etc. and will be woken up at 8.00am prompt with the chamber maids dragging beds around in the rooms above and next to you as people come and go all through the week.

So would I recommend it? Afraid not. Definitely not a 4* and not for you if you want a relaxing break. Tossa, however, is a great little town to go to. Just find another hotel. Or go to Tunisia and see how it should be done.

The only negative point was that all outside pools were extremely cold and unpleasant.
