Had to write a review as I was nervous about coming here after reading other reviews and was even considering changing hotels. I was so glad I didn’t, as this place was great for what we wanted.
It was perfect for what we wanted, just a base to stay and somewhere to sunbathe in the days. It was a bargain and when I booked it I didn't realise it was just one star, otherwise I probably wouldn’t have bothered but it could easily be higher than a 1 star and with the odd lick of paint and attention to detail it could be so much more.
I stayed in a 3 star apartment (Lenaki in Crete) and this was filthy and dirty (Thomson don't seem to cite the negative reviews on their site, but I know they exist as I wrote one and most customers who were there when I was weren't at all happy!), the Parque Golf was a 5 star in comparison!
The bungalow consisted of a living room (where sofas could be used as beds- I wouldn't fancy this and more than 2 persons per bungalow would be cramped I think), a kitchen area that we didn't use. A kettle, 2 hobs and fridge are supplied, oddly enough you have to hire toaster. The bedroom was large enough with two comfy single beds and the bathroom consisted of a shower over the bath (no plug for bath though but think this was because there was not enough hot water). I was lucky enough to get in shower first and after 10-15mins it ran cold so for a family or for more than two that could be a nightmare. As for cockroaches, I didn't see one in the apartment! After reading previous reviews I was a bit petrified and looked for them all the time but didn't see one. We sprayed the threshold of the door with the potent looking bug spray supplied under the sink so maybe that helped.
In fact, my family who stayed in a 4 star Thomson property up the road saw one or two and one even managed to get inside my brothers fridge!
Pool looked nice but was very cold. Smaller pool could have done with a clean and there was another pool, which was out of order, but on the whole it was nice to sit around and sunbathe. Unlike other hotels nearby, the pool is sunken in so there is less wind which is good for sunbathing.
It is a small walk to Faro 2 shopping centre and Playa Del Ingles and Meloneras are only a short, cheap taxi ride away. There are no bars around the immediate area.
I had a great stay in this place though, I have to say, I didn't eat there after reading previous reviews of the food and this wasn't our main holiday. If we had gone for an all-inclusive deal and planned to stay there all day I would have been disappointed. But if like us, you want a last minute break away somewhere clean and peaceful that can be used as a base and for lazy days by pool, I'd say you could do a lot worse. I even took my own bedding here as was so worried about it being dirty but it was far from it. The maid would spend ages cleaning rooms and towels were frequently changes etc. For a cheapie holiday in the sun- I thought it was great and was very pleasantly surprised!
El Gaucho in Playa does a great meal and Michelangelo’s in Faro 2 is very good!!
