We stayed at the hotel on b+b basis for one week at the end of April. The hotel was about a 20 min drive from the airport in a speedy taxi.
We were greeted by a glass of champagne each and our luggage was taken from us and we were sent to reception. The reception/foyer is stunning and can only begin to show you the size of the complex. The hotel is spread across large grounds, so large infact the people greeting you at reception give you a map when you book in which resembles disneyland maps!
The rooms are located in various blocks across the grounds, each of them has a different view, I would think you would be very unlucky not to have a good view from the majority of them. The rooms are large with a separate room/walkin wardrobe and a lovely separate shower/bath and bathrobes. Chocolates in the room everyday. I would agree that the walls seemed abit thin, and the tiles on the floor thoughout the hotel tend to make everything seem louder but this certainly wasnt a major issue. You are given blue towels for use on the sun loungers (you can change them free everyday for new ones)so save yourself some suitcase space and dont take your beach towel!
The grounds of the hotel are well looked after and there are lots of staff around everyday maintaining the various areas and cleaning them.
The Spa at the back of the hotel by the promenade is well worth a visit. We had a massage in the suites overlooking the sea.
The pools - all 5 of them are great, lots of sun beds situated around them and elsewhere in the grounds of the hotel. The infinity pool is saltwater and not heated, the others vary between heated and not. In my opinion I thought the sunloungers were comfortable, i wouldn't want to sit on one with cushions that gather everyones sweat.
The food was excellent and the choice was immense, I cant imagine what food you would be looking for if you think there isn't enough in the buffet. We found once you had collected a full plate the staff want to carry your plate to your table for you. The buffet is 24euros each for those on b+b (we didnt know til the bill arrived when we checked out.) but then if you had the lobster as a starter i think you would make your money back instantly. You can use your personalised room key to put anything you buy onto your bill if you havent got cash handy then pay when you checkout. We didnt eat/drink in the other restaurants and bars but they looked good.
Location of the hotel was good, on the promenade. You can go right which takes you to a small beach with a few restaurants and a seemingly redundant shopping centre or go left towards the boulevard of designer shops, little supermarket and restaurants and another shopping centre. You come to a lighthouse and then onto meloneras beach towards the sand dunes. Choice of restaurants is a little limited and we felt there was a little price increase for eating in meloneras because of the standard of the hotels located near the boulevard, but having said that the food was good and the restaurants looked smart.
The staff were all very friendly and walked around with one arm behind their back, as you do.
The entertainment was ok, situated in the townsquare type area. This was the only time you could tell how many people were staying at the hotel when they were congregated together, otherwise i think it would always seem quiet because of the size of the grounds.
You get the service you expect for the money you pay for staying in this hotel and it certainly surpassed other 5 star hotels we haved stayed at by miles. Thought it was an excellent hotel and would definitely stay again.
