We spent 14 nights at the Grand which overall was what I expect from the hotel with only a few minor gripes about it. On arrival you are given a welcome drink and are checked in fairly quickly. The receptionist shows you the board with what trips/ menus and films are on offer. The lift is small and does its own thing but you are on holiday so what's the rush? We had a superior room with a balcony but think we got a terrace as we had two sun loungers with brolly and a small table with chairs provided. Overlooking the harbour, the view is lovely and I enjoyed watching the comings and goings everyday including the Gozo ferry. The room was a good size - reasonable sized wardrobe and two small bedside tables. As mentioned by previous reviewer, there were no chest of drawers to put underwear, T shirts etc in and not many hangers in the wardrobe although there is a shelf to put folded items on. The bathroom was very clean but again as in previous review, when using the shower the curtain didn't keep residual water in the bath and the floor would be soaking wet. We got around this by putting the bath mat where the water ran down and butted the curtain up to the wall as best as possible - a minor inconvenience. It was a bit hit and miss as to whether you got a really cold or hot shower rarely in between. The cleaning ladies were lovely and didn't mind coming back later if you were not ready for them to come in and clean the room. We got 3 hours free WiFi a day which was great - the signal was better by the pool and in reception. It does keep dropping out if used in the room! The pool is very clean and a reasonable size. Meals and drinks can be ordered by using the phone provided. The weekends were very busy and unless you got to the pool very early then getting a sunlounger was impossible especially when the you know whos were in town! The menus were quite good - not extensive but adequate and the food was well presented and very nice (even the burgers!). We were just bed and breakfast basis as we like the flexibility of eating out and when we want to. The breakfast range was very good - cooked breakfast, continental, cereals and fruit were all on offer buffet style. All of the staff in the hotel were very friendly and helpful.
I would definitely stay here again - the location and access to public transport is easy and the hotel is what I expect for 4 stars. Highly recommended.
