The hotel (all 13 rooms) is funky, run well and for the money ($55/nite) well worth staying at, under the following conditions: you want seclusion, rest, sun and cheap rent. Swimming at their little beach is very difficult because it’s so rocky. The rooms are fine – clean and quite comfortable. They prepare – free - a very nice continental type breakfast with muffins, breads, very fresh fruits (oranges for juice), yogurts, etc. plus eggs for you to cook yourself. Their kitchen is your kitchen, equipped with all the pots, pans, dishes, utensils, etc. you may need to cook anything you want at any time - and you can store any purchased food in their refrigerators. It’s easy to stay there for days at a time and never leave. The town (walk-able via the beach about 1 mile) is tiny but has all your essentials, including a few very reasonable restaurants that serve good quality, and quite delicious, food (don’t look for anything fancy here.) My wife loved it. If it had beach and swimming, I would have too.

Rancho sak ol is priceless. Beautiful ocean. Sandy beaches. It's a place of simplicity and comfort. Do not go there if you are a really needy tourist. This place is not for people who expect there hotel to babysit them. Go there if you are a beach bum like me and my wife. If you like sea shells and watching the storms come in over the horizon. Go there if you love the poetry of water and sand and sun. From our tiny room looking out to the sea to the swinging beds that mimic the sway of the ocean, all of it was just breathtaking. It's a place of constant lounging. From hammocks right on our balcony to hammocks under a grass hut, to beach chairs on the sand, it was just the right amount of everything. Gardens everywhere, aloe and cactuses and flowers, and seashells, and and all these plants I can't describe all around you. The family that owns Rancho sak ol is precious as well. Waking up to the quite smiling faces of children was beautiful. You hear them around you more than see them but there laughter in the air was as good as the sunshine. Breakfast every morning. You can have eggs and fresh squeezed orange juice and even a fresh coconut but me and the wife were content with yogurt and granola, fresh mango, bananas, pineapple, cantaloupe and pastries and fresh coffee. Every morning there was a delight. And if the weather is bad there's also a inside room that with hammock and a swing. Hilda and Velante were attentive and charismatic. Hilda (I need to learn spanish) plays the slightly confused but very efficient host and Velante only needs a guitar to slowly strum as he walks around his home and talks so gently. They seem to leave you alone at the same time as they are always there when we had a question or a concern. Luna? Luna is a beautiful dog. Lovely and curious. Smells like dead fish one day roses the next. She seems to kind've quietly appear in places your at and sit down beside you. She is a gentle dog, more excited about running down the beach or getting her belly rubbed, than getting into trouble, yet she is the first alarm if anything funny is happening outside. The whole place is a wonderland for people who are low maintenance and care free. Plus everday we were there whoever cleaned our room left us oragami towel animals covered in flowers! Woot! The most amazing sunsets and sunrises I have ever seen. Rancho sak ol is a gem in the midst of big business and tourist traps. It is owned by people who love the place they live at and it shows.

The whole journey around Mexico was fascinating, interesting and
beautifull but demanding for Europeans because of different climate,
weather changes and really busy program for a short time.
So, at the end we felt tired and when we arrived to your resort, it was
like heaven.
We enjoyed your hospitality in unique settings of Rancho Sak Ol which is an
incredibly romantic place. We definitely recommend your hotel to our
friends and hope to be able to come back one day.
Thank you for everything and say hello to your lovely dog Luna.
Yours Stodulka family from the Czech republic

We loved our stay at this charming little B&B. People who expect lots of amenities should look elsewhere. But those who like a beautiful, secluded location will be delighted. Rooms are very simple; some have a/c, some have fans. The beds hang from ropes in the ceiling, creating a gentle sway when you lie down, and towels are artfully displayed in the shapes of swans. But the reasons to stay here are the beautiful views, the great porch facing the caribbean, and the nearly constant breezes. The breakfast of fresh cut fruit, breads, and coffee is delicious, and the price is hard to beat. the beach is a little rocky but still swimmable. Every room has a hammock outside, great for a shady siesta. Recommend renting a car, as it is not really walking distance from town. (and when in town, eat at Pelicanos - delicious seafood.)

Rancho Sak-Ol is a very nice place to stay... The people are very friendly and the property is very beautiful. We stayed in Room 13, We think it was the best room in the whole place. The biggest downside to Rancho Sak-Ol was not having airconditioning, however, the ocean breeze came right in an kept us cool all the time. The view from our balcony was superb! The ocean and the beaches were very nice, the beach directly out front was nice, but there were too many rocks in the water for us. There is a really nice beach a little walk down, very sandy and very clear water. We absolutely loved the quiet nature of the hotel, it was very secluded, but sometimes that made it difficult. We did not rent a car, and everytime we needed to go into town we had to have a cab called for us. They were very quick though, the longest we had to wait was 5 minutes. Overall it was wonderful and we would definetly go back anytime!

Thanks Rancho Sak-Ol!
