I don't think Elveden Estate should just be looked at as a garden centre with a cafe/restaurant. It is a day out.
The shops are all lovely and stock a great range of gifts, many of which are locally sourced. Whilst certainly not cheap I wouldn't say they're overly expensive, just a fair price for a good product.
The farm shop is very well stocked again with good gift ideas for the foodies in your life, I wouldn't do a regular shop there but will treat myself to something nice.
The restaurant does get very busy and as such can be noisy, but the food is superb and I've always had great service. It could be a little less expensive though, drinks especially seem pricey.
For me its T its best Christmas time, the Christmas shop us magical and the dogs pulling your tree to your car on a sled is genius, the best charity money raiser I've come across. The beer festival is worth a look as well.
Each time I've been I've been able to while away several hours, definitely worth stopping at, don't just drive past.
