Close to Bondi beach and local restaurants, there is a small pool in the roof, rooms are ok but its expensive and nothing like what the web page says! staff unfriendly and very arrogant!! wanted to leave 1st day after argument with one of the receptionists!! if i go to bondi beach again most prob. i will stay in a cheaper and better place

We stayed at the Swiss Grand for 3 nights over a weekend in November. When we booked the hotel we asked for an oceanfront suite but these were fully booked for the Saturday night. This meant that we had an oceanfront suite for Friday and Sunday nights and had to change to a side facing suite for the Saturday night. We therefore feel qualified to comment on both types of suite.

The oceanfront suite we had was large and very modern, with 2 plasma TVs, brown leather sofas and accessories (even in the bathroom), whilst the standard suite was much smaller, with old fashioned decoration and furnishings and 2 normal TVs (the one in the bedroom was in a wardrobe and we didn't see it for a while!). We asked for, and were given, our original oceanfront suite when we changed back for the last night.

Although we had to change rooms each night, it was painless enough - Concierge arranged for the luggage to be transferred to the new room and we could get in quickly. We found all of the staff to be very helpful and pleasant.

The very big disappointment to us was the noise of the traffic and revellers. Even though there were double glazed patio doors at the front the noise was dreadful, right through to the early hours. I suppose we should have expected this, being in Bondi and in the middle of the backpacking parties! At 3am an ambulance decided to do three lengths of the beach with its siren blaring. The traffic started again at 6.30am, so we didn't get much sleep. Sunday night was a little quieter, though.

There was not much of a choice of hotels in Bondi - this was the highest scoring hotel on Trip Advisor so we felt we got the best of what was available.

We would definitely recommend the oceanfront suites in preference to the standard suites. Well worth the upgrade.

A group of us have recently stayed here for a week. In summary if you want to be close to Bondi then the location is great. The hotel however is dated, shabby and caters for the aspiring middle class of australia. if you are looking for group events, conference venue heaven or general "bogen (chav) city" then this is the place.

The rooms are dated and frankly embarrassing. The architecture of the hotel is terrible and the place has a pokey feel about it. I truely felt sorry for anyone with a central room - no central light and your only view is over reception. the whole facility needs a real refurb.

Whilst we were there we had the tail end of the surf living champs (think spring break in miami), about six conferences and their attendees and mass attendence of the curves fitness conference.

If you want peace and quiet and decent rooms then this is NOT the place to stay. I would highly recommend staying elsewhere and communting to the beach (transport links are good) but do not stay here unless you want to relive your youth by partying until the early hours with all the night life that bondi has to offer.

Me and my husband stayed here for 9 nights! the 1st room they gave us we were so unhappy, its was so old and crap! so not worth the money, we complained and found out that the hotel has been sold so they are not renovating. however there are rooms that were renovated before the sale, around 20% of the room are new. So my advice is go for these rooms. We were upgraded but at a cost. its not worth it at all. Bondi is not the place to stay unless you are a backpacker. its such a shame as its really a great location but the council have neglected the area completely.
