“Horrific”

Where to begin. First they screwed up our reservations. We were supposed to get a 2 bedroom apartment for 4 people. Instead they gave us two separate rooms for one. They gave us a rollaway bed, but that meant was we had to jump across the beds just to get across the room.

The room was pretty dirty. I've uploaded some photos where you can see the air vents that have at least an inch of crusted dust on them. Everything in the room must've been at least 20 yrs old and the carpet inside the room and in the hallways had really nasty stains.

Apparently because it’s an apartment hotel, there’s no maid service. We did have one of those maid service requests to hang on our door knob, but when we placed it on our door they conveniently took it without cleaning our room. Thanks.

When trying to take the elevator to the ground floor, we were told we had to press the up button because the down button didn’t work…hmmm.

If you’re lucky enough to find someone at the front desk, don’t ask them for any directions. Apparently everything is five minutes away in the opposite direction they tell you. Their idea of five minutes took 20 minutes by cab.

Oh and they advertise that they have a gym. Well there is a gym that’s part of the building, but they’re not associated with the hotel. We had to sneak in. And lets just say the picture of the pool was creatively taken.

Now for the positive. The shower was strong, too bad they only gave us one towel for two people and it is close to everything.

If you do have to stay here, make sure you’re at least on the third floor or above. The club Hugo’s is on the second floor so it’s next to impossible to get any sleep.

There are many hotels in the area. It’s worth paying a few extra bucks to stay somewhere else.

Hope this helps.

Having had to spend an extended business trip in Sydney recently, it was brilliant to find this 'home away from home' at such reasonable rates. Sure the rooms (studios & 1 bedrooms) could do with a lick and a polish but they are sunny, all have balconies, and are in the heart of a plethora of restaurants and bars. Sydney's coolest pizza bar (Hugo's) is downstairs. Kings Cross train station is 2 minutes away. There are a supermarket and a convenience store within one minute.

Minuses:
The kitchenettes are not up to much - OK for making breakfast but stick to restaurants and takeaways for other meals. There is no airport or other broadband. You have to clamber into a tiny bath and have poor water pressure for the shower. You have to take your own rubbish out and cleaning is only weekly.

Pluses:
The lovely staff - Michael and Lada - who will do whatever they can to help you. Location location location. Sunny, warm and bright. Price price price.

Highly recommended.
