Small but well stocked reptile centre that sits a short distance from the centre of town. Live shows are a definite must, and the safe, friendly atmosphere can make the most apprehensive visitor coo over a water python.

I went here recently with friends who were visiting Alice. The reptile centre is open from 9 - 5, but the best time to visit is when one of the 3 x daily shows are on. On arrival we went into the fossil room which is an excellent display of fossils and replicas from central australia and further afield. Also lots of skulls, skeletons of reptiles.
The show lasted for about an hour, with about half a dozen lizards being shown and discussed, then 3 or 4 snakes. After the show and talk there was plenty of opportunity for handling and photo sessions. After the talk we were free to wander through the exhibits inside and outside. There were planty of staff around to answer questions and they were all keen to ensure everybody got a good viewpoint off all the animals on display. There's an enormous variety to see, from the smallest dragons, the thorny devil, bearded dragons, frilled neck dragons, pythons, frogs, and even a crocodile!
All up, we were there for over 2 hours and all had a great time. Highly recommend for anyone with an interest in reptiles and anyone with kids.
Also, just across the road is the Royal Flying Doctor information centre which has a great little cafe.

The reptile centre is much smaller than the neary desert park. You shouldn't need more than an hour to see it (and probably less). The variety of reptiles in Australia is astounding, and the centre gives you a chance to see many up close, including a crocodile who sometimes rests right next to a glass viewing chamber and many snakes.

A great little reptile exhibit. Lots of varieties of snakes and lizards. A great show with some participation for people, especially kids. The place is run by a really enthusiastic woman, clearly passionate about her charges. Everything is clean and well kept. Well worth the visit.
