Had been worried but no need - after reading some recent reviews was worried the rooms were going to be dated etc and we were taking my 16yr/14yrs old daughters and 2 friends for a birthday treat so wanted something really special. The rooms we had were on the executive floors (starts from 11th I think) were lovely - really nice decor and all very modern and fresh - maybe its just the lower rooms that still need refurbishing and this is what people have been commenting on. Anyway we loved it fantastic views from both rooms and the interconnection was fabulous - we felt like we were in a huge house for the 3 nights. Great idea for groups or families to have this as it allows a seperate area for the kids and adults. The kids loved the pool and the service was first rate. Was probably not the ideal end of town if you want to do alot if shopping in the CBD as was a bit of a hike back from town - but if you have a car it was fantastic and easy to get to main attractions from here. Was on the free city circle tram route though so could catch that to town each day. Car parking was only $17 a night so really quite cheap. Anywa y we would defintely stay there again as was reasonable price and thought the rooms were huge and great value for money.

We got an appartment with two bedrooms, a very large living room, etc. It was huge and cheap. Too bad, the beds were not that big. Nice location. We got an price including breakfast. We had wonderfull Eggs Benedict in the restaurant.

After browsing the Tripadvisor website to find suitable accommodation for 4 people in a two bedroom two bathroom unit type setup I settled on the Saville Park Suites. I consider this hotel to be good value for money as it works out to around $50 a night per person. I booked early in June and was allocated a room on the sixteenth floor overlooking the Carlton Gardens and a wonderful view it was. A lot of the previous reviews complained about the difference between the Superior rooms which are floors 6-12 and the deluxe rooms floors 13-17. Our room had recently been renovated and it appears that the hotel is working it's way down. So my advice is book early and ask for a renovated room. O.K. not everything was perfect, but after staying at a backpacker joint and paying $40 for a single room around the corner the previous night I appreciated all the little extras like a friendly smile and clean towels.

Although not perfect this hotel is situated in a good location. I wouldn't recommend this hotel for a romantic getaway or for someone seeking ultra luxury but is perfect for families sharing the cost of the trip and seeking a comfortable base in which to explore Melbourne.

Stayed here for four days in early August. The great thing about our apartment was that its sheer ugliness enticed my husband out on many sight-seeing excursions.

Overall, the place was quite clean. However, there were some huge stains on the carpet and the dining seats were covered in horrible brown stains. Also, the cleaning agent used in the room was so strong it made me feel nauseous.

The bed was tiny and the only bedding option available was a trio of ratty, scratchy brown blankets. Oh, and the bedspread had a cigarette burn on it.

The bathroom decor was grotesque - pink laminate, fluro lighting. The drain in the basin didn't have a cover - it was just an open pipe. The shower leaked everywhere (and when the toilet is right beside the shower, that's really inconvenient).

Oh, and our room was never serviced until late afternoon.

And to top it all off, I voiced my complaints in a Saville customer survey upon check out ... no reply to date.
