“would definitely come back again!”

Citigate Melbourne

12 Jun 2008

stayed there with my husband in january for 3 nights. excellent location, close to all shops and transport. breakfast was fantastic. service was excellent. staff was helpful in giving directions, suggestions on places to dine out, airport transfer, etc. room was clean. you can tell some signs of wear and tear on furniture but i guess it's just part of life! overall atmosphere was pleasant. one downside is that we had a "king" bed which was really two king single beds put together and you could feel the gap in the middle. would definitely return.

“Very convenient and sufficient”

Citigate Melbourne

8 May 2008

It was very conveniently located with supermarkets next door, cafe in the next lane, train station across the road, tram stop diagonally across, walking distance to everything practically.
Staff member who checked us in wasn't very friendly, but after the one particular person, every other staff member were awesome and so helpful.
The room was quite small but sufficient, we were there for outdoor activities, and didn't really stay in that much to really care abt the size of the room. The only thing was they didn't have a wardrobe for clothes, they just had hooks with hangers. It was ok but just a bit weird. The bath room was very simple, new and clean.
Overall I really liked the place, it was good for the price and location. Nothing 5 star or romantic, but it was just what we needed. I wouldn't even bother checking out other places for my next visit, I think this is the most convenient, so will definitely go back there again!!

“THE BEST location in Melbourne”

Manchester
2 May 2008

We stayed for 3 nights following a short stopover in Singapore at the Shangri La and before meeting up with some friends who live in Belgrave. The hotel has THE BEST location right opposite the historic Flinders St station and at the opposite end of the block from Melbourne's oldest pub. It gave easy access to the whole city and we would stay there again for that alone. Having stayed at the Shangri La it was never going to shine in itself by comparison so we tried not to,however,as noted by other guests
the view from the window was of an office block next door which was rather dismal but at least it made sure we hardly stayed in. The bed was comfortable and had crisp clean linen but the carpet could have done with a thorough hoover in the corners. The bathroom was clean with good toiletries and there was an in room free safe which was very useful. The clothes hanging space was a bit sparse but as our stay was limited did not matter too much to us. The breakfast area was rather small for the number of guests using it and if we stayed again we would probably breakfast outside of the hotel as it is so close to a huge choice of cafes/restaurants etc. The reception staff were very helpful and attentive; housekeeping must be a bit rushed as we got our room cleaned very late on the 2nd day - guess they must have been busy that day. Overall the hotel was excellent value given its prime location.

Location, location, location. No-frills hotel, fantastic location. Metres from tram stop, minutes from shopping, fed square, chinatown etc. Rooms were clean and nice, LCD TV was nice touch. No complaints whatsoever for the price you pay.

“Very helpful staff!”

Citigate Melbourne

13 Apr 2008

I stayed at the Citigate in Melbourne for 6 nights at the beginning of March. Firstly, the location is excellent - the hotel is within walking distance of all major city centre attractions and the restaurants on Degraves Street and it is near tram and train links.

For what I expected to be a fairly basic hotel, the room had a number of good features - a duvet rather than sheets, black out curtains and an ipod docking station to name but a few. There was also free internet facilities and a small gym. Given the hotel's location, my room was also fairly quiet.

What really set the hotel apart from me were the staff. The reception staff were great - in particular on my day of departure when I was having trouble with my bank as they had stopped all of my debit cards - the hotel helped me to sort this out. They also were great in booking trips, giving directions and even lending me a blanket to take to the Penquin Parade.

I would definitely recommend this hotel.
