I have stayed here several times as its very handy for early flights.
This is the first time I have been given an end room and I found it very small compared to the normal rooms in the hotel.
Overall clean and well maintained.

We booked the HI Melbourne Airport for just one night. We were flying into Melbourne late in the night, and seeing as the airport is a considerable distance from the city, the airport hotel seemed a good option. We got a rate of $207, which although quite pricey for an airport, was still much cheaper than city hotels of the same standard. For some reason, accomodation was very expensive that night...
We arrived at the airport about 45 minutes later than scheduled, and left the terminal. All the terminals are connected to each other, even the International one, so what I'm saying is applicable for all travellers. There are plentiful signs pointing towards the hotel. Some point to the shuttle stop, while others point to the walkway. The hotel does have a shuttle, but you will have to call them once you arrive to arrange pickup. The hotel was only a few minutes away, so we decided to walk!
After a short walk through the carpark (You can walk underneath the Hilton for a more direct route, but without knowing we accidentally went the long way!) we reached the hotel. Across the road was a BP Service Station, where you can buy some snacks, as well as a 24hr McDonald's. The hotel itself looked quite old, but it was supposed to be renovated on the inside. We went in and walked over to the front desk. The lobby area was still quite busy for the time of night, and it was quite welcoming. There was some trouble with the rate, and she went to talk with her supervisor in a closed room. Strangely, she took the credit card with her! This isn't common procedure! Anyway, she apologised, and quickly resolved the issue. Being a Priority Club Platinum member (free if you want to join! even basic members get benefits!) we're supposed to get some benefits. All we got was a letter saying we could have a late check-out and a free newspaper, which every guest got anyway.
We went up to our room, which was a two double-bed room. It had been recently renovated, and was in good condition considering how many one-night guests they receive. Shower and bathroom amenities were good, and a pillow menu was provided. The hotel is built in a triangular shape, and our side had a view of the McDonald's and the BP Station, as well as the planes on approach behind, which I really liked. Soundproofing was very good and we couldn't hear a thing!
The hotel does have a restaurant, Vargas Restaurant and Bar. I didn't get to try it, but it did look quite busy. Breakfast is pricey ($25 per person, kids U/12 eat free) so I suggest going to McDonald's, where a family can have a feast for under $40 all up! If you want some drinks or anything, BP is probably your best option. The hotel does have room service, including a Take Inn menu where you can get things without tray charge and gratuities. Some options are available round-the-clock.
Parking is also available at the hotel, free of charge. If you like, the hotel has a package where you can stay one night at the hotel prior to your departure, and they will let you park your car free for up to 7 days.
All in all, I would stay at this hotel if you arrive late in the night, have an early morning flight, or an overnight stopover. The hotel is a great alternative to the Hilton Melbourne Airport, which was about double the price of this hotel and didn't offer anything better for it.
PS. I have attached a room image for you to have a look.

Had a one night stopover in Melbourne, booked through Priority Club and ended up getting it for free with points I didn't know had!
Arrived at midnight with a very tired and cranky daughter after our flights were delayed more than 6 hours, so were hoping for a trouble free check-in. It was exactly that!
We walked through the door, the girl at reception held out our room card and told us our room number and that we had late checkout of 2pm. We didn't have to sign anything or give credit cards, we just went straight up to our room, it couldn't have been any easier. Extremely impressed!
We had a room with 2 double beds, there was even a "Pillow Menu" which we didn't use as it was so late (though in hindsight I would as the provided pillows weren't that great).
Only 300m or so from airport, just across the carpark. We walked across (as stated, at midnight with a 6 year old & about 100 bags!) and it was no problem, you'd probably walk further to get the shuttle or a taxi!
Really nice décor, very clean and well appointed. We didn't hear any noise from the airport at all.
Bathrooms are very small which was the only downside, with a toilet, shower over the bath and small vanity. We didn't need much more for one night anyway. Red Earth toiletries were a nice touch.
Didn't use any of the facilities so can't comment on them, but there is a McDonalds right across the road for breakfast!
Would definitely stay again if stopping in Melbourne, don't pay more than double the price for the Hilton.

We stayed at The Holiday Inn Melbourne airport twice in October. We usually stay at the Hilton Melb Airport but we found the Holiday Inn to be comparable in rooms and service for a whole lot less money. Both stays we booked a room with 2 double beds as we have a child. The rooms are quite spacious and spotlessly clean.Bathrooms are a little on the small side but they do provide nice Red Earth toiletries.Check in and checkout are done efficiently and the staff were excellent.Buffet breakfast was very nice and a huge range to choose from.We became Priority Club members which entitles you to 2pm late checkout and free newspaper, which is great after a long flight.Less than a 5 minute walk across the carpark from the airport or a shuttle can be arranged.Highly recommended.

My wife and I stayed 24 hrs at this hotel, on a much needed stopover from South America to Vietnam. After a long flight, the short walk from the baggage claim area to the hotel felt really good. You can take the luggage cart across the parking lot and drop it off at the lobby.
The room and bathroom were clean and quiet, with comfortable beds and pillows.
If you want to visit downtown Melbourne, the airport bus is a good choice, with service every few minutes.
For snacks, the McDonalds across the street comes in handy.
Overall, a good airport hotel.
