I stayed at the Wentworth Plaza for 6 days. During my visit, I noticed numerous bites each day mainly on the inside of my arms. I didn’t understand how I was getting insect bites since I hadn’t been in the woods or outside at night. During my flight home, the bites became increasingly itchy and numerous. By the next day, I had over 45 bites covering my arms, neck, feet and ears which became extremely red and swollen. At this point, I was required to see my Doctor.
I did more research and concluded that the bites were from bedbugs: The pattern (3 bites in a row), the redness, itchiness and the location of the bites all indicate bedbug bites. I also learned that bedbugs have become a problem for many hotels, due to the increase in international travel, as well as the banning of DTT (which apparently was effective in controlling bedbugs). Due to the timing of the bites in relation to my stay at the Wentworth Plaza, I can only conclude that I got bitten during my stay. I wouldn't be writing this unless I was100% certain of where this happen. I wrote to management and they disclaimed any responsibilities and did not take my complaint seriously.
In addition to recovering from the bites, there was also the possibility that the bugs got into my suitcase and have been transported into my home. So I had to quarantine my luggage and then wash all my clothes immediately in hot hot water. What a nightmare.
Other than the bedbugs, I thought the location was great and loved the pubs downstairs. There is a huge construciton project across the street which is very noisy.
