This was our first hotel on a 22 day tour and it was disappointing. The hotel looked old from the outside and inside was no better. The whole place is tired but the staff were helpful. Its a 40 min walk to the restaurant area in Northbridge and there are no views of the river from the hotel. We would not choose to stay here again but it might have been demolished by the time we visit Oz next.

“Ewwwwwwww”

Hi, just thought I'd spare others..

So i stayed at the Perth Ambassador last night payed $140 or so..... which I think should mean you get a pretty nice CLEAN place right?

Not the case!

Spent some time in the room, took a shower, lifted up the sheat covers to find a huge blood stain on the sheets. The nasty part was the mattress cover underneath it also had a blood stain on it. So anyway I switched rooms, and the next room had four single beds. One bed had a bug in it, the other had a weird stain on the comforter, the floor also had weird stains all over it, and the remainder two beds both also had small blood stains either on the comforter, sheets or pillow.

I was told later that the sheets were infact changed in the first room, but what doesn't add up is, what are the chances two sheets with blood stains end up together? Did they even change the sheets? Questionable..........

They did give me some money back, but I barely care.

Anyway incredibly disgusted......... STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!

“Depressing, I agree with other reviews.”

The elevator still wasnt fixed near end of January. Booked there because everywhere else was booked for Australia Day. Is budget, should be 2 not 3 star. For a few more $ could get alot better room. Several problems, refurbishment ongoing, so noisy during day, spa out of action, none of this was advised when we booked, no reduction, still charged peak rates for 4 night stay. I asked for a late checkout, which would cost $40 up to 6pm. When I got the bill they had charged for extra night, would not reduce it. Also when we got home found an unauthorised charge on my credit card, $66, which when I enquired, was for someone else!!! Whilst at reception I heard people sorting out similar discrepancies. So my advice is if you can afford it, is go elswhere, otherwise be prepared for budget basic, and watch your credit card statements.

    • Liked — Receptionist Scott very helpful. Location not too far from central Perth, bus routes etc.
    • Disliked — In desperate need of refurb, dirty, tatty, drab. decor, small rooms. I wonder how they got those awards.

“Seen better days, and stay out of elevator #1”

When we arrived, the front desk was discussing what to do about the people who were trapped in an elevator. Apparently the elevator technician wasn't available on weekends; they were discussing whether to call the fire department to rescue the people. The duty manager was chatting with the folk in the elevator on the emergency elevator phone, telling them that help was on the way, and sounding very reassuring. It's probably better that the elevator occupants didn't see the chaos at the front desk that we saw.

When I asked the fellow who was checking us in which elevator to avoid, he said that the problem was with elevator #1, "again." The word "again" was disconcerting.

The room itself was a bit dingy--we ended up with a smoking room, which was our fault. I should have paid more attention when I reserved the room. It inspired us to spend a lot of time outside.

Overall, not a strongly positive experience. I'd recommend staying elsewhere.

“Hotel is ok”

Just came back from 5 days stay. A bit surprised by the negative comments and glad that I ignored them. I didn't use the room service and my stay excluded breakfast. For a 3+ star hotel, it is ok. The room, the lobby and the waiting area are spacious. The room is well-equiped. The locality is good, safe and quiet even though it is on a main road. A disadvantage if you want something near to the busy mall because the walk there takes 10 to 15 minutes. There is a convenience store further down the road about 5 to 10 minutes away. There is an Asian supermarket behind near the Mint. The hotel is ok since I didn't come here to enjoy a hotel stay anyway.
