On arrival we were shocked at how tired our hotel room looked. There had been a large hole punched in the bathroom door which had been poorly filled. Paintwork was chipped , dirty grout around tiles in the bathroom, dated soft furnishings etc . We accept that we had paid a low rate for the room - NZD$120 - but this was not a three star hotel. The worst thing about it however was that as it is cheap, and the rooms can sleep up to 4, there were groups of young skiiers who were drunk and rowdy- making it impossible to sleep. When we decided that we could not stay in the room, we were offerred a two bedroom unit away from the noisy groups- this was just as careworn but we felt we had no option for that night. This room then flooded due to a split water tank and as this was the only other room they had free we asked to be moved to one of their sister hotels (this is the intercontinental chain)- but they refused. We had to stay in a potentially unsafe room- they asked us not to use the TV/ lights in one room due to the risk of electrical shorting. The next day we were offerred another two bedroom room - but at double the cost. What a shame that their attitude towards customers was so poor when they have such an excellent location. The best thing about the hotel was the views- they are interrupted.
