My wife and I stayed at the Kingsgate hotel for 5 nights in August 2006 for our ski trip. The staff were polite and friendly. Our room were quite large and had a late 80s - early 90s look to it but was comfortable and had more than enough room for two people. The queen bed was reasonably comfortable and the bathroom fine. We had a nice view of the lake and mountains, with a balcony.
There was a resturant in the hotel and although a little expensive, the food was incredible. It simply had the BEST lamb I had ever eaten. The vegetables were delicious and the service was great. We had breakfast (included in our stay) there everyday and dinner (not included) twice. Definately recommend it.
There is a pub/bar which has a fireplace and some different beers on tap which was nice. A good place to unwind.
A carpark underneath the hotel was convenient and if you are staying more than 1-2 days, I would definately hire a car. The hotel was about 10-15 minutes by foot.
I have no photos to share as we stayed there before I bought a digital camera.
There is a pub in the cente of town (not far from a carpark which is built from stone and has a lovely fireplace with the most delicious garlic bread (made fresh on premises). I can't remember the name of the pub.
So overall, I would recommend to stay at the Kingsgate hotel.
