Being a New Zealand resident maybe I'm being a bit hard on the Mercure Grand Hotel St Moritz when compared to how overseas guest might view this property but I have to say there were areas where I was disappointed. Namely the check in, which was slow then the room amenities (lack of) and comfort of the bed (very soft), which gave me a very sore back in the morning. On the plus side the view from our room was excellent but the plus here was being given a room with a balcony. Location wise the Mercure Grand Hotel St Moritz is within short walking distance to the city centre and staff were friendly though I encountered language issues with one staff member, obviously employed on a working holiday. I only ate breakfast at the hotel, which was reasonable but lacked a generous range of food options. This hotel has Internet facilities in the room but expensive at (NZD) $ 33.00 for 24-hours access - Capped at 50MB, which I thought should be unlimited given Internet is cheap in New Zealand and 50MB wouldn't go very far. Overall the hotel design was nice, warm and inviting with it's use of New Zealand natural materials like wood, schist and stone to create that Swiss alpine feel. Overall I think Mercure Grand Hotel St Moritz could have done so much more in what is an off peak period in Queenstown.
