We had two seperate nights in the A line, both marred by annoying details. On the first check in the reception staff refused to hand over the keys until we had paid in advance, despite the reservation being held by credit card. and having already paid in advance for the second night.
The Duty Manager then gave us the wrong information on the kids eat free offer in their restaurant, had we know what to expect we would have eaten in town. The soundproofing in the rooms in the main block is poor, we were woken at 3am by drunks returning from town to the room next door and phoning home (Australia!) so beware.
On the second night, we stayed in the A Line lodges, far better accomodation, and I would suggest that you specifically ask for these. The view from our apartment No. 101 was excellent. However, on the second morning the hot water failed in these blocks.
The location is OK, it's only a five minute walk to the town, but it is a steep hill, so not suitable if you find walking difficult.
On the plus side, the breakfasts if you are on a B&B deal are good, with a wide selection.
Probably would not stay here again out of choice, as it was the poorest accomodation we stayed in in South Island.
