Our stay at Pencarrow was the highlight of our vacation. Bill and Kari were the perfect hosts with great knowledge of everything New Zealand, from hiking to local wines. The setting of Pencarrow does not leave anything to be desired, including a beautiful view of Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables seen through large windows from all guest and sitting rooms, invigorating outdoor seating areas, luxurious bed sheets and heated mattresses for chilly evenings, lavish bath products, fresh flowers and daily home made guest treats such as cakes and pies in the rooms, and a tastefully arranged interior with a unique private collection of hand made Oriental carpets acquired by the owners on their many trips around the world. We especially remember the wonderful breakfasts all with a daily new menu and china, and the optional evening get togethers for a drink or a coffee in front of the fire place before venturing out to dinner.
The owners offer to guests a relaxing sought-after blend of a friendly welcoming, professional hosting and a sense of privacy.

We stayed at the Pencarrow B&B during our stay in Queenstown over our Honeymoon. Simply put - absolutely fantastic experience.

Room: Silver Fern. Gorgeous room with every amenity you can imagine from beautiful pieces of art to basic necessities that you may have forgotten. The views from the room were outstanding - you can see the lake and the remarkables. The rooms are very quiet and the bed was very comfortable.

Location: slightly outside of the city center. either need to have a car, or take a cab to get into back to the Pencarrow. Bill and Kari would often give us a lift into the city since we didn't have a car during our stay.

Breakfast: wonderful with fresh fruits, yogurt, eggs, etc. absolutely delicious - you will not leave hungry.

Bill & Kari: truly helped make our stay special. from breakfast, to helping recommend activities, restaurants, leaving special surprises (chocolates, cards) during the turndown service. upon booking Kari sent along more information about Queenstown then you will likely get from any other hotel/tour company.

Bill and Kari are perfectionists. They make you feel like royalty. The rooms, beds, bathroom are gorgeous, the food is excellent, every attention to detail you can think of. I have travelled a lot since my childhood, an I cannot think of a higher quality accomodation I have come across ever.
As we travelled over Christmas, we got a little Xmas tree in our room with little presents and a personal Xmas card!!! The Xmas breakfast Kari prepared was just breathtaking.
It is not what you would expect from a B&B: this is FIVE star quality with lots and lots of personal touches!!!!

What a memorable experience!! We stayed at Pencarrow for 3 nights. Another couple who we were traveling with had stayed here the previous year - and we discovered why they wanted to return!!

Kari and Bill treated you like you were family from the moment you stepped into their lovely "home". Of course, the surroundings were spectacular also - with views of the mountains and Lake Wakatipu.

The extras meant SO MUCH: a welcome gift, nightly turn-down with treats and local souvenirs, fresh baked goodies in your room in the afternoon............. and the multi-course daily breakfasts were amazing!! The toiletries were changed everyday - as well as the breakfast china!!

I couldn't believe that they said they had never (in 5 years) had a guest who they would not welcome back. In this day and age, it is hard to believe. It has to be related to their treatment of their guests!!

Each of their 4 rooms has a full bath including shower and bath tub and double sinks............ as well as a sitting area. Bill and Kari are "in tune" with the needs of guests as I am sure some people prefer to relax in the comfort of their own rooms.

We chose to hang out in the snooker room or lounge and visit with Kari and Bill. They have quite an interesting past and opened up to us. We also loved the garden areas with the magnificent views.

This is a place NOT TO BE MISSED!
