My husband and I spent the last 3 days of our honeymoon at Pencarrow. We sat down in the car to head to the airport and didn't want to leave the driveway!

Bill and Kari are AMAZING! Be prepared for a huge and mouth watering breakfast! The views are breathtaking from every window in the house. They know all the best restaurants and have a brochure for everything in the area. They will also gladly call to make any reservations that you might need. The house is gorgeous but also has a great lived in feeling to it so you don't have to be afraid to touch things. :)

We LOVED Pencarrow and Queenstown so much that we are working on getting our residency so that we can move to New Zealand and soak in those views all the time!

Everything that has been said about Pencarrow and about Bill and Kari is true. We stayed for 5 nights and our only complaint is that we had to leave. Bill and Kari are simply amazing at what they do. The rooms are beautiful, the grounds and gardens are perfect, the breakfast is outstanding and the attention to detail is remarkable. I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with their decision to stay at Pencarrow. Bill and Kari made sure that restaurants were booked, activities were arranged, and that we had all the information that we needed. I celebrated my birthday while staying with them and they helped to make the day extra special. We hope to return to New Zealand and a stay at Pencarrow will be at the top of our list.

“Worlds best Bed and Breakfast”

Pencarrow was truly a wonderful experience for me.

I booked our 3 night stay on the strength of the tripadvisor reviews and was dubious about the experience ... could it really be as good as everyone says it is?

The answer to that is "YES ... It really is that good!"

Quite simply do yourself a favour and stay at Pencarrow whilst in Queenstown, you'll be glad you did.

There is nothing I can say that hasn't already been said...this place is fantastic. I would not return to New Zealand without a stay at Pencarrow.

The most amazing hosts you can imagine...they made our stay memorable. Helped us plan and book our days...including helping my husband book a plane to fly over the mountains (both Bill and my husband are pilots...my husband not nearly so accomplished as Bill!). Kari guided us to some spectacular hikes and activities.

The breakfasts prepared have been talked about by other reviewers are spectacular...it was probably could that we only spent 3 nights...probably saved me from considerable weight gain!

Coming back at the end of the day from our activities, Kari offered tea/coffee, which was always accompanied by something yummy. And no need for dessert when out for dinner, there was something always in our room in the late afternoon, which we enjoyed after dinner.

I am typically not a big fan of B&B's - but this one did it for me. As we said good bye at the end of the trip to Kari and Bill, I truly had tears in my eyes. It was like saying good bye to good friends.

We did have a car in NZ, but choose not to drive the 2-3 (?) miles to town...we walked one night and Bill and/or Kari took us the other nights...we were given no choice!

If you go to NZ and don't stay here...you are missing something.

“Bill and Kari of Pencarrow - you are amazing!!!”

Pencarrow Bed and Breakfast

21 Feb 2008

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying here on our honeymoon some years back now, but I thought I should add to these glowing reports because it seems as though it's still going as strong as ever!

All I can say is wow! Having your name written on the blackboard in the car park to welcome you upon arrival felt quite special indeed. A simple thing, but very thoughtful - and a prelude to the level of service you will receive during your stay.

The rooms, full of art pieces, sculptures and artifacts collected from all around the world (on Bill and Kari's travels - amazing people) are wonderful - and come with a booklet to explain their significance.

The shower/bath and entire bathroom was sublime.

The BREAKFASTS were INCREDIBLE!!! True silver service every morning with decadent cutlery (real silver for example) and name places. Soooo thoughful. Bill, you make some mean eggs, steaks, bacon and pancakes! (Yes, steak for breakfast was a treat - but this is Bill and Kari we're talking about here)

Kari and Bill gave us the best advice about what to do, like flying in to Malborough Sound for example - and arranged the whole thing, including calling for two days in a row while liaising with us to rebook as the weather was not conducive to flying. Nothing was too much for these guys.

Not to mention the fact that every time we left the building, we'd find a gorgeous note on our pillows upon returning - and all of our clothes folded or put away. These guys really know how to make you feel special - and I'm so glad they are still getting rave reviews a few years on. They - and their amazing accommodation - absolutely deserve it.
