Nice hotel right next to the shopping district and lake. Most of the rooms do not have a view of the lake, and I'm sure the hotel is less expensive because of this. No frills stay.
Breakfast buffet (included) was about average.

This hotel is being run by what seems to be amateurs pretending to be in business. Noone knows anything, no concierge, no service. Rooms were also horrible, we had one in which the shower was not enclosed, the water was not draining at all. We called them to clean the mess but they did not bother. We got moved to a different room only to be miserably hot. We were then told that only the 4th floor was air-conditioned and we were on the second floor.
And to top it all of, the rooms and lobby are not pleasant, friendly or inviting. We would never consider this hotel as an option.

I stayed here for two nights, and found it to be a very pleasant, comfortable hotel.
The best thing about this place is the location - it's very centrally located in Queenstown and so is convenient for the shops, bars and restaurants, while being set on one of the quieter streets so you don't get too much noise. It's next to pleasant gardens and glorious views of the lake.
The reception staff were efficient and helpful. The hotel is quite modern, and the bar and restaurant areas are spacious. My room was fine, with a small balcony, cable TV, a desk, minibar, and a clothes line in the bathroom. The hotel provides a guest laundry.
There's no free car parking at the hotel. Instead, you have to use their valet parking service which costs a small amount per day (can't remember how much, I'm afraid) and request your car from reception when you want it. There doesn't appear to be any alternative to this, as on-street parking near the hotel is metered and limited to short periods.
Overall, the hotel was fine and superbly located; but I couldn't quite shake the feeling that it was a bit overpriced for what it was, and I could have been just as comfortable staying in a cheaper motel.

A pleasant modern hotel closes to the centre of this bustling town, which is very, very popular with tourists. My room was small although clean and tidy with a balcony that overlooked the hotel green and a slight view of the waterfront. No room safe or air-conditioning and it was particularly annoying to see the new top floor rooms added recently all had air-conditioning units incorporated whilst the rest of the floors had none! Only sampled breakfast as I ate out in town during my stay. The food was unmemorable and the buffet-cooked breakfast was mostly cold. The hot drinks were dispensed by machines that disgorged a vile tasting liquid with the one I tried purported to be coffee. Staff were friendly although I got the impression there weren’t enough of them to cope with the occupancy levels.

The hotel was recently renovated with flat screen (SKY - Cable) TV, chic couch and sparkling bathroom. The location is fantastic - almost sublime - with the lake, a rose garden and shopping strolls all at your door.
The breakfast was included in my value room rate. It was buffet and way above average. Certainly good produce with reasonable choice.
But other reviewers have said this already. What is the downside. Well firstly, it tends to be a tour group hotel. That means getting attention at group check-in or out time may be hard. Similarly, getting a dinner reseravtion at the restaurant is impossible because of the largish amount of pre booked, group diners.
What else? Try to request a room NOT on the ground floor. Naturally your privacy suffers. As well, there is some noise from tour buses picking up groups of tourists for the daily, early morning departures to Milford Sound.
Would I stay again? Yes. Without hesitation.
