The decor, colours and style make you wonder if you were back in the 80s in miami vice with new romantic music playing in the background, but this turns out to be a pretty sweet little spot. After the retro brick to face, it is spacious, clean and very accommodating.
The view over the clyde river is great so be sure to book a water view room if you can manage it. The service was professional, yet down to earth. There were a lot of little touches as well that set it apart from most motor inns like a sewing kit, hot chocolate, temporary membership (and free drink) at the neighbouring soldiers club and even a fax service sheet! (I haven’t sent a fax in a while though). The mini bar prices are also far more reasonable than most hotels these days.
The room size is on the larger end of the scale which is always a plus. There is secured undercover car parking, but like most hotel car parks, it is pretty tight when manoeuvring cars so it might be tricky if you have a larger car or 4WD. It is right in the Bateman’s bay main CBD so it’s a 2 minute quick walk to restaurants and shops.
All up it is a clean, cosy (if not more than a little daggy), well located place for a stay. No microwave or stove in the kitchenette for twin studio rooms- so might want to look into larger rooms if staying longer than a few nights.
