Wow, what a lovely setting to treat sick koalas. We had the luck to meet a very naugthy koala who jumped from one pen to another as a means of trying to escape. This provided some hilaric entertainment for my two teens. There is no entry fee however, a donation is a must for the work what they do.

This place is a fantastic refuge for sick and injured koalas and is the best place they could possibly be if they need help. The volunteers deserve 5 stars. Their care and compassion for the koala is outstanding. The yards that the koalas are held in are great for koalas with the tall eucalyptus species being apparent throughout. There were also bird species spotted in the trees. We had a 3 pm tour with Mick and he gave a very moving account of the koala and the current patients, with also some humour injected.
Tips. Take the 3 pm tour to get the most out of the experience.
Shout yourself something from the small shop, a drink a souvenir etc, every little bit helps.
Make sure you read all of the information signs about the koala and why this place exists.
Consider donating to the hospital. (I did)
Take some tissues if you're a softy like me.
No visit to Port Mac would be complete without visiting this place.

We visited here with our young son and we thought it was fantastic. You can see through the windows at the hospital. When we visited they were putting drops in the koalas eyes. A great opportunity to see things. We had a wander through the outdoor space set up for the koalas and you can read more about each of the koalas if you wish. The hospital run tours each day which are free. The whole visit is free but we made a donation to help their great work in helping the koalas. Definitely recommended :)
