We found this motel via the Lonely Planet guide and decided to check it out as it was late in the evening and within our budget.
On arrival we were greeted by Sue who managed to secure the last room for us! Sue was extremely friendly and was really excited to find out that her motel had been listed in the Lonely Planet guide, as she was a big fan of their books herself. She also informed us good places to eat and visit. Her husband was also really friendly and we enjoyed discussing the current affairs with him as he was also from Britain.
For $99 we were provided with a small, compact room (Room 4) which was clean and had a comfy bed. We received 1 extra pillow in our room. It wasn’t an issue for us however two would’ve been nice to cater for other guests. I’m certain Sue would provide extra ones on request. The decor was slightly dated but for the price and location (close to the centre of town) this wasn’t an issue for us. We were also provided with fresh milk which was a rarity for most of the accommodation we had stopped in on our travels. The fridge wasn’t turned on when we arrived but this was due to energy saving, we rectified this ourselves as it was obviously an oversight but please be aware just in case you put any perishable products in there.
We were able to park our car on their car park in our allocated space and it was undercover as well which allowed us to load/unload our car without getting wet when it rained. The motel was also on a quiet street which led to a good night’s sleep!
Thankfully we had no encounters with the dreaded ants that so many hotels had been plagued with on our travels!
Our only downside was that the a/c was noisy and turning on the ceiling fan set off the smoke alarm. We mentioned this to the owners though and it was with regards to the wiring regulations in Australia. We were concerned though as the lady staying next door was in her 80s & we didn’t want to wake her up or give her a heart attack…or both! All in all a decent little motel and good value for money!
