Having read reviews on trip adviser I decided to book a surprise weekend for my Fiance. I booked direct with a travel agent in Gibraltar for a superior double room, B&B, for Sunday and Monday night. The price was just over £300. We got the train from San Roque, which was fantastic and a single fair was only 6 euro each. We walked from the train station which took only about 15mins, there was no taxi rank. We arrived at the hotel and were very pleased with our choice. What happened next was the only bad point of our trip. We stood at reception, with an elderly receptionist sat there, for more than 10 mins and were completly ignored. I literally had to wave infront of his face and gave him my confirmation paper. He did not acknowledge me at all and proceeded to look through the days bookings. Obviously he could not find my booking, although there was a confirmation number, and called another receptionist who looked again for another 10 mins. After that he asked me what type of room I had booked. I pointed it out on my confirmation slip and he looked for another 5 mins before handed me my key cards and telling me my room was on the 2nd floor and that was it, no explanation.
Apart from that, the weekend was fantastic, the views from the room were fantastic, breakfast was great, meals out overlooking the gorge superb and Ronda was lovely.
On the day we arrived there was a bullfight, and although we were a bit wary of the cruelty, we did go and it was a great spectacle.
It is a pricy hotel but for a treat, apart from reception, I would reccomend it.
