Visited the Museum of Communism on our last night in Prague. It was a great last night attraction as they are open until 9 pm. The museum is a self guided tour with lots of communist era artifacts. Some of it very kitschy, but overall the storyboards in multiple languages provide the history of communist occupation in Czechoslovakia. There is an excellent video montage made up of news reel footage that gives a great perspective of the last skirmishes between demonstrators and the Czech communist party/police. It is hard to believe that such a beautiful and vibrant city was under such domination only 25 yrs ago. I highly recommend this exhibit.

Positives - interesting artifacts from life behind the iron curtain. As a Westerner I cannot imagine the repression of creativity and life. Negatives - small museum, some of the rooms appeared outdated and dusty. I'd say the tour was a bit overpriced as well.

The Museum of Communism, situated rather ironically above a McDonalds in one of Prague's busiest big-business shopping areas, is an interesting little oddity for those somewhat knowledgeable in this period of history - I definitely wouldn't call it a 'beginner' museum. If you're hoping to find lots of historical artifacts and interactive displays then give it a miss; the information contained within its walls is undeniably thorough but there are no truly remarkable displays on offer.

Instead, you get a few statues from the Communist era in Prague and a LOT of writing which I have to admit I didn't read all of. Nonetheless I did soak up a lot of information as I was walking around and despite feeling a little bit underwhelmed initially, I did eventually realise that a lot of hard work had gone into presenting this particular era comprehensively and articulately.

The museum would definitely benefit from some more money being invested in it but for now I would say that it adequately serves its purpose. The video on display in one of the back rooms is worth watching; although difficult to follow at first, it delivers some truly shocking footage of how protesters were treated at the time.

Rather dated "museum", rather loads of written information in a run down set of scenes. You have to be very interested and fresh to make use of the excess information. The place needs a major overall and update with some new interactive display, not worth the money as is.

A walk in some years covered by sand and time that need to be studied: here you'll find your instruments. It worth the visit.
