The Museum of Communism, situated rather ironically above a McDonalds in one of Prague's busiest big-business shopping areas, is an interesting little oddity for those somewhat knowledgeable in this period of history - I definitely wouldn't call it a 'beginner' museum. If you're hoping to find lots of historical artifacts and interactive displays then give it a miss; the information contained within its walls is undeniably thorough but there are no truly remarkable displays on offer.
Instead, you get a few statues from the Communist era in Prague and a LOT of writing which I have to admit I didn't read all of. Nonetheless I did soak up a lot of information as I was walking around and despite feeling a little bit underwhelmed initially, I did eventually realise that a lot of hard work had gone into presenting this particular era comprehensively and articulately.
The museum would definitely benefit from some more money being invested in it but for now I would say that it adequately serves its purpose. The video on display in one of the back rooms is worth watching; although difficult to follow at first, it delivers some truly shocking footage of how protesters were treated at the time.
