My wife and I stayed at the wonderful Hotel Jewel for five nights in late February this year. We arrived late in the evening, but were checked into our room very efficiently by Jakub, who is a part of the ownership team and an all-round nice guy.
We had a slight issue with our room and reported it to Jakub, who corrected it for us the very next day. Jakub and his team were able to coordinate amongst themselves and followed through on our requests seamlessly, even after a change in shift at the front-desk. This impressed us, and really highlighted one of the benefits of staying at a boutique property.
The hotel itself was recently renovated, and the rooms and public areas were in excellent condition. We found out that the owners did the renovation themselves, and much attention had been paid to construction details. We had a nicely sized superior room – Ruby – that was very nicely decorated and kept very clean. As the hotel is housed in a historic building, there are no guest elevators. There is, however, a small luggage elevator that the staff will use to deliver guests’ bags to their room.
The location of the hotel is superb. It takes just minutes to walk to the old town, not much longer to the museum, and there is a good selection of restaurants nearby. While the streets surrounding the hotel can be a little quiet at night, we did not feel unsafe when walking back to the property after a late meal.
We had breakfast included in our rate, and every morning saw both hot and cold selections served. The cold items were laid out on the bar along with breakfast beverages, and the hot items were prepared in the kitchen. Overall, breakfast quality was good and we looked forward to it every day. On one occasion, we came down to breakfast late, but the friendly restaurant staff happily served us a full spread anyway.
This hotel offers a combination of friendly service, nice rooms, superb location and competitive pricing, altogether making it a really good value. We wholeheartedly recommend this hotel, and we are looking forward to returning for another stay.
