We chose this place because of its favourable reviews and it is the only hotel in the centre of Prague with secure parking. The entrance to the car park is quite narrow, I had to reverse in my Renault Trafic minibus. Luckily I am quite used to tight spaces and reversing by mirror. The concierge at the time kindly offered to park it for me. During the day the car park gradually fills up with other vehicles not in set parking spots so don't expect to be able to drive your car in and out easily.
During check-in the concierge gave us some helpful information including restaurant recommendations and safety information.
The rooms are locked using a micro-chipped card which you wave in front of a scanner. There are three in total before you access your room. The one on our door itself was a little tricky. At first I thought it was just me but it turned out that everyone had problems with it.
When we tried to book the room online it said there were no double rooms left. I called up to double-check and was told there was actually one double room available. Our room was in fact a twin room which they had pushed two beds together. I noticed this when my elbow made contact with wood dividing the two beds. Neither of the remote controls worked for the TV. The room (number 17) was directly above the Choco Cafe so we were woken every morning by the loud music from downstairs. The room also faces out onto the road which was noisy at all times and had the occasional drunk person walking past early in the morning.
The room was clean and nicely decorated. In the bathroom there was a large shower, toilet and bidet. The doors to the shower were broken so there was a gap which soaked the bathroom floor. The plug was blocked so by the end of even a quick shower there was ankle-deep dirty water. The shower head holder on the wall was also broken so there was only one precise way of balancing the head while you showered. During my first shower experience I knocked the pipe with my arm and it fell out, missing my head by a few inches.
Breakfast had plenty of choice but the only hot food (which was lukewarm) was frankfurter sausages.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, keen to help in any way they could.
Room 17 is a bad room. Right above the Choco Cafe.
