We had seen a performance during the summer and another again recently. Completely changed my view of their standard of acting - a truly wonderful performance with such talented actors, completely captivating the audience with humor, wit and sheer passion for their talent. An absolute must to see this group. Well done PSC!
We have been there today to check the performance schedule. The mister in the lobby (the first place you enter in the building) was rude and impolite. Unfortunately for him we have understood most of what he have said. The exact words where following: "I would go to your country I would first learn your language so don't expect me to speak any other language then czech". He was a little bit confused when we reply that we are from Poland and we understand everything he said. He was obviously drunk because you could smell alcohol from him. This isn't behaviour you would expect from in a place like theatre. We were so disgusted with him that we didn't want to stay there any longer. I don't recommend this place to anyone who isn't familiar with czech language as long as this awful lobby boy is working there.
We watched "Venus in Fur" in Kolowrat Divadlo which was just an amazing experience! There are seats for only 80 people in the attic of an old building and no stage. It feels like seating in the middle of the action. The play was with two actors only and some minimum stage scenery and lasted about 95 minutes but was just sad and funny and breathtaking. It was performed by British actors in English.
Prague Shakespeare Company consistently presents great professional theatre, from Shakespearean classics to modern Shakespeare related shows and more. Their fine acting, creativity, and intimate venue make Shakespeare accessible to everyone. Performances are in English with Czech surtitles. Be prepared for an evening of grand entertainment.
Prague Shakespeare Company, in only a few years, has ingratiated itself with non other than the National Theatre of Prague and for good reason. The quality and caliber of the work Guy Roberts, Jessica Boone and their team is of the highest level. I've had the great pleasure of being a part of it, and can confirm what Travel Channel has said as well...one of the TOP things to do while in Prague. And it's in English to boot!
Prague Shakespeare Company's productions are world class English speaking theatre. Artistic and inventive, they encapsulate all that is terrific about live theatre and are not to be missed if you are in the Czech Republic.
