We arrived in Brno via train from Bratislava with the goal to experience Moravia. I think we accomplished this!
I booked the standard double room. I will admit I was not happy when I first saw the room as it was small and basic ....but it was new and very clean. I could have dealt with the room if there had been a safe. So I asked the Front Desk staff for a new room ...one with a safe, which they do have. The price for the upgrade was minimal, but the room itself, although I think it was the same size as the standard double, did have lots of other upgrades.
The breakfast is good - standard hot and cold breakfast is served on the lower floor. I think they also may have had room service available. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
It's located on a very quiet street and is about a 10 minute walk into the Old Town square. Although it's not a far walk to the square, after walking all day, the extra 10 minutes back to the square for dinner seemed like an extra 30. NOTE - Brno shuts down Friday at 5pm until Monday. We were there on the weekend so nothing was open except for the tourist attractions. We did find a drug store open by chance.
Spilberk castle is nice to visit - great views, paintings and lots of history from WW2. The organ if you get to hear it in St. Peter & Paul Cathedral is amazing (we happened to be there during a wedding), and the Capuchin Monastery & cript containing the 300 year old dead bodies is gross but intriguing all at the same time. We also stopped in and had beer at Pega Brewery.
Our favourite restaurant on our travels is in Brno; Brabander Restaurant. An amazing cheese tray!!
