We booked a two night (6 and 7 Sept 2009 )stay at Villa Angela based on recommendations in TA. We loved it! It was very affordable and an excellent value. The rooms and common areas were all very clean. Breakfast was very good and plentiful. The coffee was excellent! The young ladies who staffed the front desk were very helpful and efficient. We ate at two of the restaurants they recommended and enjoyed both of them. We left a written message at the desk for a colleague who arrived a day later and it was dleivered to her when she checkd in!! They were also very helpful with bus information as well as calling a cab for our morning departure.

We liked the location outside of the old city. It is brisk 20 minute walk downhill. We would walk down then take the bus back. If you take the bus - bring a Villa Angela business card with you to show the driver. It is very dark at night and on our first trip we missed the stop completely and rode the whole route back around :) On our second night we ended up back on the same driver's bus and he remembered us from the night before!

There is a school next door and in the morning my husband was out on the balcony talking with the kids - they wanted to speak English. We were on the third floor and were quite happy to walk up and down the stairs.

We highly recommend the Villa Angela!!! We would definitely stay there again!

We stayed at Villa Angela for a long weekend in August. The hotel was clean, quite convenient (although you do need to take a bus to the center of town), and the staff was super friendly. Our one complaint? We stayed on the lobby floor and could hear the phone calls and checking out procedures! As a result, we were awake alot earlier than we would have liked (especially since the neighborhood of the hotel was so quiet). We would stay here again...but just ask to be on another floor.

I have recently returned from Gdansk with a friend and have stayed at Villa Angela for three nights and have a had a wonderful stay. The staff are both friendly and very helpful, the rooms are very clean and it is located close to Gdansk only 20 minutes downhill walk. I would not hesitate to go back, I loved Gdansk and would book again to stay at Villa Angela.
I would recommend that you catch the 50 minute train to Malbork to see the castle. There is a direct train from Gdansk on the international train, however the normal train is faster than the express!

We stayed at the Villa Angela in between Christmas and the New Year. Having read previous reviews we choose this hotel even though it was a bus ride into the Old Town of Gdansk, the bus stop is just over the road and buses are frequent. The staff were very helpful and professional, the rooms were clean, modern, warm and cosy. Breakfast was excellent and there was something for everyone's taste. The walls in the main part of the hotel are a bit thin so if you are a light sleeper it can be problem, but the hotel does encourage quiet time between 11-00pm and 7-00am and even on New Year's Eve it wasn't a problem. The price for the hotel rooms are probably half of what you would pay in the centre. We really enjoyed our stay here and Gdansk is a lovely city to visit but hotels are going up fast and I think now is a good time to visit before western ways change it.

Having read all the reviews for this hotel I had no difficulty in booking my 2 day stay there.
Arrival was easy and took the suggestion to go by taxi - cheap - but the bus routes would have been easy also if the numbers had been known.
The external appearance is excellent clean and tidy and welcoming. The front desk greeting was superb by a yng lady whose English was excellent.
I had opted for a deluxe room (miinutely more expensive) which was on the 1st floor of the main building. It consisted of 2 bedrooms both large with reclining sofas in both. In the main room there was a TV and a fridge. Provided was unlimited coffee tea etc and a kettle.
The layout of the room and presentation was quite excellent - So much space! A good view over the city - not that it is beutiful!
The bed was large and very comfortable.
The bathroom was of the highest order - shower, toilet, basin and heated towel rail all perfectly designed and towels beautiffully presented evn to the extent that the hand towels were tied with red ribbon!!
Provided was a hairdryer, soaps shampoos and even a set of toothbrushes with paste and shaving equipment!
The decorative order was perfection. Storage for clothes etc in plentiful supply and also as it was very cold the heating was controlled by yourself and very effective.
The whole ambience was superb.
The breakfast 7-10 was very good being the usual cold buffet but also a hot buffet eggs bacon etc etc. Huge variety of good teas coffee and fruit juices. This was all very very well layed out and presented. The quality was v good.
I can not fault this hotel and can only say that staying at some of the larger chain hotels - Mercure, Holiday Inn etc would NOT have been as good and especially at the price.
I think it says plenty when the notice on the door says "no vacancies" in Mid November!!
A terrific stay can not be faulted in any way.
