Lovely hotel in the Jewish district of Krakow and good VFM. Approx 10/15 minute walk from the main centre. Good selection at breakfast including fruit, cereals, scrambled eggs and hot dog sausages, and the usual cold meats etc. Good sized bedroom and bathroom, which were very clean. We had room 208 which was at the back of the hotel and very quiet. We booked a taxi from the airport through the hotel (via email) which cost 70 zlotty each way. i would recommend this hotel expecially if you don't want to pay city centre prices. The only down side were the lack of English speaking TV channels and no tea making facilities. But then who wants to watch TV when you're in such a lovely city! We went to Auschwitz and caught a bus from the lower floor at the bus station. Tickets purchased from the driver for 18 zlotty return. We didn't have a guided tour but purchased a useful booklet which told us all we needed to know and allowed us to wonder round at our own pace. There is a free bus from Auschwitz 1 that that will take you to Birkenau, which is a few minutes up the road. We weren't so lucky with getting to the Salt Mines so easily and we took it for granted that we could just turn up and catch a bus as easily as we did for Auschwitz. But it turned out to be quite a wait so i would recommend being a bit more organised with this trip and checking bus times first. And although most of the guides tell you entrance is free...it isn't because you have to pay for a guided tour, which i think was approx 70 zlotty each (although don't hold me to that!) for an English speaking tour guide. Would recommend a meal at the Redolfi restaurant in the main square.

Stayed at Regent from 23 March 2008 to 28 March 2008. Arranged pick-up from airport to hotel via hotel's transfer service at a cost of 70 zloty. Very efficient service.

Hotel in Jewish Quarter in a rather rundown area. 10 minute walk to Wawel Castle and another 10 minutes to Main Square.

Hotel reception staff were polite and helpful and provided maps and information booklets about Krakow upon arrival. Reception had a smoky smell when we first entered.

We were allocated Room 303 (small) which was the top floor and basically in the eaves of the building - rather like being in a loft conversion. Room was a little dark - Windows were in the roof Room was long and thin. One wall sloped in at a very steep angle - need to watch heads when get out of bed. Room was clean - had a table with chair, wardrobe, and three cupboards - a bit too much furniture for the size of the room.
TV on the wall was very small (a basic portable TV) which was difficult to see from one bed because of its position and the position of one bed, and difficult for the other bed as it was far away.
Bathroom was a good size and well equipped.

Breakfasts were basically cold buffets (meats, cheeses, fruits cereals) The `hot` aspects were scrambled eggs and hot dog style sausages. A couple of times, we had to ask for some items to be replaced as they had run out on the buffet table.

Hotel was generally quiet except for the last two nights, when a party of French students arrived - banging doors - shouting - screaming - running down corridors ....
If I returned to Krakow, I would probably choose another hotel as I was disappointed by the room.

We stayed at Krakow for 5 nights (6 days). In retrospect, too long.
Salt mines, Auschwitz, visit to the Castle, a walk round the Market Square and the Jewish Quarter are main attractions. Three days is probably enough.

Sioux Restaurant in the Market Square was a good place to eat - good food and reasonable. Upstairs is non -smoking.

I have just returned from a four night city break to Krakow. We stayed in the Regent Hotel in the Kazimierz district. We found the hotel to be very good and in a great location. The staff were very friendly and helpfull, especially as it was very cold and snowing during our stay. The room was front facing on the second floor, but a little on the cool side as the radiator appeared faulty. So we were happy given the extra blankets. The Breakfast room is in the basement and very nice it is too, with an assortment of cereals, fruit, cheeses, cold meats, pastries and scrambled eggs and sausages {hot dogs!}.
Krakow main square, Rynek Glowny is a 15 minute stroll away, with plenty of restaurants, bars and market stalls there. Wavel Castle is even nearer and a good place to visit. Auschwitz and the salt mine at Wieliczka are a must. It is much cheaper to do Auschwitz independant of a coach tour, you will save yourself pounds. From the bus station, take the mini bus to the town of Oswiecim about a 1hour & 20 min drive away, cost 9 zloty one way about £2. Krakow was better than expected.

The 4 of us stayed at the regent for 4 nights.the hotel is in the jewish quarter, great area to stay.lots of good restuarents and bars just 5 minutes walk from the hotel.its just a 20 minute walk into the centre.if you dont want to walk its only 50p to get the tram there from round the corner.dont go to auschwitz on a tour its so easy to catch a bus from the main bus station there and it only costs about 4 pound return.we also made our own way to the salt mines via a bus.the hotel has there own taxi service so we booked them to get from the airport to the hotel it costs 15 pound each way.we booked the hotel direct and got a 10% discount.i always e mail a hotel we are staying a week before to make sure everything is fine with our booking.this hotel is in a 4 hotel chain in the city might be a few years before i return to krakow but i would stay in the jewish quarter again and would stay here again.

This was our second stay at the RT Regent. We arrived at 2pm and our room was ready for us. We had room 109 which was a front-facing room on the non-smoking floor. We found the room a little chilly but hoped it would warm up when we had been in there a while. My husband was suffering from a stomach virus and went to bed and I sat in the room, next to the radiator. When the room still hadn't heated up very much we rang reception and they sent someone to check the heating. It was cranked up full belt but as we were still chilly they brought an electric heater up for us which really made a difference. There wasn't a lot of traffic using the street outside so noise wasn't too much of a problem. This may change during the busier months.

We ate in the hotel restaurant and the food was good. The staff were quite concerned about my husband only having a bowl of soup until he explained about his stomach bug.

Breakfast is served in the cellar restaurant and is buffet style. There are lots of juices to choose from and the usual array of cold meats and cheeses. The fresh bread smelt deliciious. There was scrambled eggs and frankfurters in the hot tray when we were there.

The rooms offer lots of storage space which considering it was mid-winter and we had huge padded jackets and big boots with us, we were grateful for.

The bathroom consisted of shower, toilet and wash basin and was very spacious. Towels were replaced daily if requested. If you wanted to use them again, you just hung them up on the hook.

The hotel is in the former Jewish district and is very convenient for bars and restaurants.
