We had three rooms (6 adults and a 5 year old) for 5 days. The hotel is on the square so there is no vehicle traffic other than horse carriages. Your taxi can get close but you'll have to walk the last little bit. Two of our rooms had windows overlooking the square and the third had no view but did have a door to a private balcony. Our granddaughter's bed was inhabited by a stuffed animal when we checked in and she was told she could keep it. Her bathroom was also equipped with two rubber duckies. The rooms had high decorative ceilings, were large, beautiful, and well equipped, The bathrooms were also very nice. There were outer and inner windows and heavy drapes so noise from the square did not present a problem at night. Each room had a capsule-type one-cup coffee maker and the coffee was good.
Our room rate included breakfast (they will do it either way) and while they will cook eggs and several other things to order, there were just too many good things on the buffet table to mess with eggs -- smoked whitefish, lox, several types of cheeses (our granddaughter particularly liked what she calls stinky cheese), wonderful breads, cold meat, and a large selection of juices. The dining room is beautiful and their coffee is very good.
We did not use the hotel's restaurant for any meal other than breakfast. The weather was very nice and there was no lack of places to eat at reasonable cost and outside around the square.
The staff was always pleasant and helpful. They arranged several trips for us (Auschwitz, Birkenau, the salt mine) and were able to give good advice on just about anything when we needed it.
One of our daughters felt that the Wentzl was the best hotel she had every stayed in. For us it was certainly one of the best, and it would not be possible to find a better location for a visit to Krakow -- a place worth experiencing.
