We have been with my fiancee at Amadeus hotel for two romantic nights in the spendid Krakow for celebrating our ninth year relationship. Actually, we had booked the "Romantic Package", which is an offer of the hotel (two nights in a suite, a bottle of wine welcoming in the suite, a "romantic" dinner at the restaurant of the hotel, sauna). The things went wrong from the first day. The romantic dinner had no wine. Not even a glass of wine included! And the food was the simplest and the cheapest one. Not to mention that we were forgotten for hours to be served...probably because we were the "free" guests.
Moreover, we asked for heating in the suite (as it was really cold at Krakow those days). From the reception, we were informed that the central heating was not working and that they would provide us with a heater. We were waiting for one hour and a half, but nobody brought us a heater. Instead, WE had to go downstairs, to the reception, and after that, they informed us that they don't have one.
The worst of all was during the second night. From 8 until 9 o' clock while we were resting we heard noises like someone was trying to open the door room and enter. But we paid no attention (we thought that someone had mistaken the room). From 9 till 12 midnight, we went for dinner (the reception booked the dinner for us). When we returned my fiancee's mobile and money were missing.
Feeling extremely unsafe, dissapointed and annoyed, we went downstairs at the reception. The police came. The hotel had no inside cameras, so it was impossible to find out who had entered the room. During the conversation between the reception and the police, we hardly understood anything. We demanded to leave the suite and be transfered to a smaller room. The receptionist also told us that we would have a discount at least for the room. The next morning we went to the police office, as they advised us to do but no translator was expecting us so we had to wait for more than one hour. At least, both the translator and the police officers were friendly to us. We were surprised when the policeman told us that this was THE SECOND TIME that this happens to this hotel, something that was never mentioned to us by the reception. The police also advised us to ask our money back, as they have an insurence, and gave us a sealed report (which is still in our hands).
Finally, we met the reception manager just three hours before our return flight from Krakow. She offered to give us back just the half of the value of the things we were stolen from the suite. After an hour of negociations and facing the unwillingness and the unprofessional behaviour of the manager to give us back at least what we have been stolen, we managed to take this money back, but no compensation or a discount for our stay although they had promised that before.
This was our worst holidays of all!

Sirs/Mesdames,
In response to a complaint about the review of the stay of guests from Greece in our hotel, I would like to rectify a number of facts. The travel packet: “Romantic Stay” in the Amadeus Hotel includes the treatment of guests with a bottle of wine upon their arrival, and a 4-course dinner. Our guests were treated with a bottle of Avondale, a white wine imported from the Republic of South Africa, and were given a voucher for dinner. The guests had a choice of three sets of meals from each meal category (showed in the basic menu) and decided what they wanted to be served.
There was no break of the central heating system. Upon their arrival, our guests were provided a heating device to their room in which they stayed over the whole period of stay in our hotel.
It is a fact that the event of theft occurred in the hotel. At that time a gang of burglars prowled in Kraków and burgled into rooms of other hotels as well. Apart from that fact, after our guests reported the theft of goods, the Police was called immediately.
The hotel staff followed procedures required under Polish laws, i.e. the Police officer took depositions from the guests on the site and invited guests to the Police Station to continue the investigation. Our hotel provided the Police with the photographs of burglars and detailed information about our monitoring system. In order to compensate our guests’ loss, the Reception Manager proposed that the hotel would give them a new mobile telephone of the same model as that which had been stolen. As the guests refused to accept the offer, they were paid a pecuniary compensation in the amount of € 390, which was equal to ca 75% of the value of their stay in the hotel. They were also presented a bottle of wine and a box of chocolate.
The event of perpetration makes me really sorry. I think, however, that actions undertaken by us in response to the perpetration was correct and proper. We have always cared of our guests to provide them with proper service. I want also to advise you that we have improved the security measures applied in our hotel.
Truly yours,
Krzysztof Jedrocha
