We were really concerned when we read all of the bad reviews the hotel
awiw seems to have, and weren't expecting much, but when we got there we were amazed at what good value for money it was. The hotel was lovely, the staff spoke excellent english and could not do enough to help, the rooms were big, beds warm and comfy and the rooms were not nearly as noisy as we expected, (they weren't particularly quiet but certainly didn't stop us sleeping). Breakfast was very nice and the location is excellent - only 10mins from the main square. I went with 6 friends and we all absolutley fell in love with Krakow and were genuinely impressed with the hotel awiw, for which we paid around £50 each for three nights. Lovely hotel, beautiful city.

There are better located hotels for same price. The rooms are very noisy when the trams start running about 6am. There is a tram junction just across the road from the hotel. They also make the building shake.

We didn't book the Hotel Awiw but were transferred there when our room at the RT Regent wasn't available due to damage being caused by a group of men on a stag party! The Regent apologised and said they had booked us into another hotel. They ordered a taxi for us which they paid for.

The check-in process was quick and easy and one of the staff carried our bags up to our room on the second floor. There is no elevator in the hotel so that was appreciated. Our room was comfortable and the fittings appeared to be quite new. There was a walk-in wardrobe/dressing room and we had a mini bar. Complimentary bottles of water were also supplied. The bathroom had a shower, toilet and wash basin but no bath. The towels were changed daily. It was quite warm and humid when we were there and there was no air-conditioning in our room so we had to leave the window open to get some cooler air. Fortunately we were on the side of the building so it wasn't too noisy. There was a TV in the room but we didn't find any English speaking channels on it (not that we had much time to watch any TV). The rooms were neutrally furnished but what I found quite strange was that there were no pictures on the walls or any mirrors etc. We got the impression that it wasn't quite finished.

Breakfast is served in the restaurant which is in the cellar/basement. There was a basic buffet breakfast. There was a choice of a few different sorts of bread, some cereal, cold cuts, frankfurters, fruit and preserves. There was also a choice of 3 different fruit juices and tea and coffee. The evening menu looked very tasty but we didn't eat in the hotel in the evening. We did have a few drinks there. The small bar is also in the cellar restaurant. It was a long climb back to our room though, I counted 66 steps.

Overall, we had a pleasant stay. The hotel is in a central location and the staff were pleasant and helpful. We would have preferred our first choice but the Awiw was very comfortable.

ok rest assaured we are not people looking for a 5star hotel at three star prices, neither are we light sleepers. But we ended up in a room over looking the main intersection. It was hot and despite requesting a room at the back with air con we got neither. So at 5am every morning we were woken with the the very loud sounds of traffic and the roars and squeals of the trams (window had to stay open as it was rather hot and oppressive) The shower was broken and remained so throughout. The towels were changed daily but the bed was changed only once during our 7 day say there. The satellite Tv consisted of polish channels only. Despite our knowing that the hotel wasnt full we were told other rooms were not available. However if you want somewhere central to the sights with above average breakfast and you can sleep in a hot humid room and not be woken by the terrible early morning racket then the hotel Awiw is a fair bet. We were so disapointed (and tired) But we hope fair enough to point out the good location/breakfast etc.

We had a 3 night stay in January 2007 at the AWIW hotel in Krakow. We booked this hotel based on reviews from Trip Advisor.
It was excellent value for money, modern, clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
The buffet breakfast was a great start to the the day with a wide choice. There was a mini bar in the room but considering that it was January and -15, it would have been nice to have tea and coffee making facilities in the room too - but it didn't spoil our stay!
The location of the hotel was excellent, within 10 minutes you are at the main square, bus stops or train station.
Would definitely stay here again.
