Hotel Columbus is an excellent hotel. Its in a great location, only a short walk to the market centre. The staff were very friendly and helpful! One of the girls in particular went above and beyond her duties in helping me post an important document!! She was fantastic. The rooms were great, breakfast was great. Can't recommend this hotel enough. Would definitely stay here again.

booked via octopus website - excellent hotel with spotless rooms, good breakfast buffet and restaurant. Its's been recently renovated, so all modern fittings. Tram stop nearby and 15 mins walk to old town, less than 5mins to main sights in kazimierz. would go back if visiting area again.

“Hotel Columbus was great”

Hotel Columbus

18 Mar 2008

We stayed at the Hotel Columbus for 5 nights from January 29th 2008 and had a very pleasant stay. The staff were wonderful, all very pleasant and helpful. Great buffet breakfast. The hotel is beautifully decorated, very clean, and bed linen changed every day. Plenty of hot water for showering. Bedrooms are very roomy with telephone, hairdryer, TV, minibar (with free bottled water)and a Safe. The hotel is about 15 minutes walking distance to the main square and shopping area. We will definately stay there again.

“Good Value, Friendly Staff, Great Food.”

Hotel Columbus

8 Mar 2008

We booked the Columbus Hotel through the company "Escape to Poland" as part of a trip to visit Auschwitz. We were not disappointed. The hotel was clean, all staff were friendly, polite and very helpful ( with a good standard of English spoken).
The newly opened restaurant served excellent meals with a varied menu, nicely presented, and they tasted amazing - we never used salt and pepper once !!!
The room was clean and well turned out. It faced onto the busy main road - but double glazing adequately took care of any intrusive noise from the trams passing by. the bathroom was well equipped with comfortable sized bath with shower attachment, and a handily placed hairdryer installed next to the big mirror. ( a big surprise was the speaker in the bathroom being linked to the Television)
The hotel is located about 10 minutes walk from the main square, and adjacent to the old Jewish quarter of Kazimierz.
- this district has some wonderful cafes and restaurants tucked away, and we had great fun exploring them.
Breakfast was served in the Hotel restaurant, with freshly brewed coffee to hand, and all the buffet food was instantly replenished by the vigilant staff as soon as any was taken.
The choice of food included cereals, cold meats, cheeses, yogurts, fresh fruits, and pastries. Hot foods included bacon, sausage, scrambled egg ( boiled eggs freshly cooked on request) and freshly cut bread ( that was kept covered to keep it fresh) with a toaster handily placed for use.
Would we stay here again ? Undoubtably YES.
Would we recommend this hotel? again , a resounding YES.

Our only criticism - we'd like coffee/tea making facilities in the room - as we are early risers and breakfast is served from 7am.

“Excellent hotel - value for money”

Hotel is excellent. Bathroom is fab. one of the most modern I've seen in any hotel - from 5 star Europe to eastern europe! It's about 10 mins walk to market square - lots of bars etc on the way. Breakfast in my opinion was horrible - toast and jam did the trick though. Prices for drinks the same as everywhere else. Krakow itself was a bit of a disappointment - market square - not a lot going on. They could learn from Prague - a few patio heaters etc would go down a bomb. OK quite a lot of culture if you are into that but anyone thinking of stags, girly weekends etc go to Prague - Krakow ain't got it. Main reason for us going there was to visit Auschwitz - it was well worth it. Educational, harrowing, enlightening you name it it was. Can recommend Krakow shuttle for transfers etc. Reasonably priced, nice cars and always on time.
Hotel, other than Auschwitz was the best bit about Krakow - Krakow is a big disappointment. Go to Prague.
