We booked the Columbus Hotel through the company "Escape to Poland" as part of a trip to visit Auschwitz. We were not disappointed. The hotel was clean, all staff were friendly, polite and very helpful ( with a good standard of English spoken).
The newly opened restaurant served excellent meals with a varied menu, nicely presented, and they tasted amazing - we never used salt and pepper once !!!
The room was clean and well turned out. It faced onto the busy main road - but double glazing adequately took care of any intrusive noise from the trams passing by. the bathroom was well equipped with comfortable sized bath with shower attachment, and a handily placed hairdryer installed next to the big mirror. ( a big surprise was the speaker in the bathroom being linked to the Television)
The hotel is located about 10 minutes walk from the main square, and adjacent to the old Jewish quarter of Kazimierz.
- this district has some wonderful cafes and restaurants tucked away, and we had great fun exploring them.
Breakfast was served in the Hotel restaurant, with freshly brewed coffee to hand, and all the buffet food was instantly replenished by the vigilant staff as soon as any was taken.
The choice of food included cereals, cold meats, cheeses, yogurts, fresh fruits, and pastries. Hot foods included bacon, sausage, scrambled egg ( boiled eggs freshly cooked on request) and freshly cut bread ( that was kept covered to keep it fresh) with a toaster handily placed for use.
Would we stay here again ? Undoubtably YES.
Would we recommend this hotel? again , a resounding YES.
Our only criticism - we'd like coffee/tea making facilities in the room - as we are early risers and breakfast is served from 7am.
