Good quality large hotel positioned right at the ski lift and 20 mins walk from centre of Zakopane.Good choice of breakfast buffet and choice of on site evening eating, but save money with a walk into town.
Friendly staff and cheaper prices than the more established areas of Europe.
Stayed on the 7th floor with views over the slope, other side of hotel has views of the Tatras.
Noisy from the slope preparation early in the morning.
Zakopane is a great town with loads of bars and food.
Only draw back is the 2 hr transfer from Krakow - so budget £80 ea way for a taxi or shuttle.
If you are a beginner try Nosal for gentle introduction to the sport.
For ski instruction try [-] for excellent english speaking help.

I was very disappointed by this hotel.
First, the hotel is quite a distance from both the town centre (2kms) and the bus station (3kms). That said, if you visit during the winter, it is conveniently located next to the chair lifts for ski.
A shuttle bus does exist on the hour from the hotel to the Town Centre, Bus Station and mountain lift for 3-5 zloty.
Hotel is currently undergoing renovation on level -1 and -2 during the day. A peaceful retreat is thus not possible as vibration and noise was heard on our 7th floor room throughout the stay.
We were to have stayed for 2 nights but left after 1 night and returned to Krakow.
I wish we had stayed at the Belvedere.
Also be aware our the mercure reservation system. After a confirmation was received I was contacted via email by hotel staff to fax a copy of my credit card. I refused.
That said, Zakopane is a beautiful town and area which is frequented primarily by Polish tourists.

From the start, I received good customer service here. I emailed to confirm our reseravation and received a reply within 24 hours.

Upon check in, the front desk offered to upgrade our room with a better view...for free:-) We have a magnificient view of the mountains!

Rooms are well spaced and clean. Great bathroom!

Staff is friendly and very helpful when you need anything.

They have a late night club all the way downstairs that was fun:-)

And the restaurant here is yummy!!!! We ate there the first night and really enjoyed it! Service was great there as well.

I can't comment on the bus as we rented a car which allowed us to come and go as we pleased but I did see the posting for the bus which stopped every 15 minutes until 6:00 p.m. to take guest to the village. And I overheard that a taxi ride was around $10 US dollars....30 zlotas.

Stay here...you won't regret it!

“I can walk no more with Kasprowy”

I have stayed in this hotel many times.
Rooms are nice, most remodeled, nice view of mountains on one side.
For some bizzare reason taxi stop was cancelled in front of the hotel and now the business is done like 30 years ago in Bulgaria. You want to go somewhere - you tell that to the receptionist and wait. It is a big step back for no reason at all. Food average. It is better to eat in the center of Zakopane. The worst pina colada I had in my life(I have travelled in about 30 countries). Employees complain about their new french owners. I guess for them, the future shows no promise. In 2005, I have requested a price quote for 3 people. They charge almost 50% more for the third person in one room even if no extra beds are needed! I think that is a little outrageous. In addition, I heard different quotes from the reservation department and then when I called to reserve they gave me the price 60zl higher then previously. That was too much! No more Mercure Kasprowy for me. I am staying in a different place. Service is acceptable, no problems there. The place is conviniently located and if you like swimming pool you will be in heaven because they have newly remodeled and large pool.

“Winter Fun in an Unexpected Place”

Mercure Kasprowy

My family stayed at the Mercure in February during a trip to Poland. Zakopane was lovely -- lots of snow, good skiing, sleigh rides, interesting crafts fair in town, and a lively pedestrian mall downtown. Apparently the Accor head office must have visited between our stay and the earlier reviews posted here, because we found the hotel to be well-managed, with a friendly and helpful staff. The shuttle bus driver was great. The common areas, including the restaurant, have all been updated and looked brand new. The rooms were larger than we expected, but we really didn't spend much time in them. The breakfast was great -- large variety and plentiful. Our son loved the downstairs swimming pool and both our boys used the ski slope which is a stone's throw from the hotel. Our greatest regret is that we didn't have more time to spend in Zakopane. Maybe next winter.
