stayed here for ten nights during summer holiday in hungary. the site is situated on the edge of town across from the water park and opens onto lake balaton
as well as tents there are cabins and mobile homes for hire some looking onto the lake. its a huge camp and has a beach area for children, a water slide and at the far end an open air swimming pool which is spotless.
there are restaurants bars and shops dotted around the site. also play areas for the kids. they can also hire go karts and bikes for the day.
there is a water ski-ing set up with overhead wires on the lake which looks terrifying!
we never made it to the water park or the ferry across to siofk which probably says a lot for whats going on at the site. balaton fured is quite chic without being too full of itself (great chinese take away) and worth visiting
you can follow a cycle path from the site across the town following the promenade. we just missed a wine festival which was unfortunate. a mile or two up the road we had a ride in an old soviet tank and in thiony there is a great coffee shop with a breathtaking view of the lake. also met lubo moravciks uncle in the church grounds which was a big bonus for a celtic fan! at the ferry terminal there is a beach and cafe whichs serves great homemade food.
the only downside (and some may see it as a blessing) is that there are few english speakers on the site. the site caters for largely dutch german and of course hungarian holiday makers. found everyone very friendly and (aside from watching a pick pocket weighing up his quarry at the bus station) welcoming
