My visit to Chefparade Cooking School was a delighful day! One thing I would do differently, is to take the morning market trip WITH the breakfast. Our group skipped the breakfast and the second we walked into the market I regretted it. The market is just wonderful and Ibolya, our chef, is familiar with the vendors and their goods! The place just made your mouth water with excitement for the flavors there!
Our time spent in the kitchen was informative, fun and fast moving. The wine along with the lunch we prepared was very enjoyable. Our cooking selections were Krumplileves (Creamy Potato Soup w Sausage); Paprikáscsirke nokedlivel (Chicken Paprika); Spaetzle (dumplings); and our desert, Gerbeaud cake, were all delicious. I have since prepared these dishes at home and they are just as good!
Ibolya had a great sense of humor and was nice to spend the day with. She clearly has a great deal of passion for food and was very happy to share her passion, knowledge and experience with our group!
I did pick up the cookbook, it is a very nice collection as well as an encyclopedia of food and cooking in the different area's of Hungary. It was recently borrowed by a friend, who is the executive chef of a hotel. After 3 weeks, he returned it and told me he bought his own copy!
I do recommend this is adventure and would certainly do it again! It will go on my list of future adventures to all places I visit.
