Our group stayed here for a week and we were very comfortable. The rooms and beds were small by American standards, but common in Europe. The best part of Dorpat, aside from the onsite spa, and wonderful buffet breakfast, was the location. It is right on the river walk just minutes from the Town Hall Square.

A business hotel near the middle of Tartu.
Rooms are clean with very reasonable pricing. Free wifi.
There is a shopping mall next doors.
Breakfast was ok but really crowded and seating was a problem on two mornings.
No aircon, fridge or tea making facilities in the room - watchout!
Also, the water is not complimetary. Each bottle will cost you 1.60 Euros.

Room tip: ask for a river facing room

For Estonian standards this hotel is very good and centrally located on walking distance along he river from the beuatiful old town centre.
On the other hand it is frequently used by bustours to stay over for one night.
Although the restaurant of the hotel is good , you need to plan to dine before or after these tours block the tables and the kitchen

The Dorpat hotel is beside the bus station, and a short walk to the town centre along the river bank. There is large shopping centre with supermarket and cinema beside the hotel. Room was good size, with wet room type shower. No fridge or room safe. Free WiFi throughout the hotel. Ask for a plug for your hand basin if you need to wash things. Breakfast was fairly good buffet, fast and clean service. Try the kefir (fermented yoghurt drink) instead of milk with fruit and cereal. As access to Tartu is best by bus, being beside the bus station means you can wait in the hotel foyer until your bus arrives.

Room tip: Ask for river view and high up for quiet place. A bath will cost extra.

Tartu is clearly a great town to stay for a couple of days, Hotel Dorpat is in this respect clearly an option, not only (but also) because it is located in the immediate neighbourhood of the bus station. The staff is very friendly, the rooms are ok, for bad weather, there are spa facilities, and it is in walking distance to the city center. The breakfast has still some potentials for improvements, yet, it has substantial variety and the overall quality is good (juices could improve though).
