This is not so much a hotel as it is a "retreat" on the outskirts of Cesis town. When me and my family arrived we were at first apprehensive that it was not in the center of town, but when we realised there was a bus (less than 1 Euro) and even Taxis only cost 2 Euro into the center of town, our fears were assuaged. The hotel is kind of like a lovely modern guesthouse - wooden floors and features, very nice and cosy rooms (softest bed I have EVER slept on in a hotel - this actually made it hard to sleep LOL!), even the bathroom floors are heated! In my room the TV was mounted very high in an awkward position - but I didn't care because if you are going to only watch TV in Cesis, you shouldn't be there! Staff are very friendly, and speak very good English. Just a word of warning though - we arrived in the "off" season, so though we got breakfast, the "restaurant" did not serve dinner and there wasn't much in the bar. But this was not a problem - we went to a local supermarket in town, bought some bread and sausage and beer, and the hotel staff very kindly let us set up a "picnic" on the terrace overlooking the -beautiful- green countryside of Cesis. I would imagine it would also be a very cosy place to stay in winter. Oh yes - and they have an AMAZING sauna, as well as a Jacuzzi.
Next time I go to Latvia, I'm definitely going to stay in Cesis at Hotel Atputa : "Paldias, guys!"
