Just come back from a visit to Riga and Tallinn, and stayed at the Toss for 3 nights.
The hotel itself is located in the Latgales priekšpilsēta area of Riga, next door to a Bowling alley/ pool hall /restaurant complex (where the hotel takes its name), and is a mere 15 tram ride from the centre to stop Ķengaraga iela (taking the tram 7 or 3 from the National Opera).
Rooms are basic and small; we were allocated a family room as during our stay the hotel was fully booked and originally booked a twin/double. This was fine by us, however it was hard to see how a family could have stayed in our room. The bathroom was tiny; even more comical was the shower, which we had to climb over the toilet to get to and the loo roll dispenser further away which could have meant a little accident if not careful. Also the fan in the bathroom was the loudest I ever encountered.
The staff however were helpful and friendly, although not speaking great English did the best they could with our requests and questions.
At the bottom of the Car Park there is a canteen-style restaurant serving traditional Latvian fayre; simply enter, grab your tray and sample the delights of what Lido has to offer.
