Housed in an old water tower in Tavira a visit to the Camera Obscura is well worth the time (15 - 20 mins) and the money (€3.50). The 'real time' views of Tavira are astonishing in their clarity, something that one imagines must be helped by the cloudless Algarve skies. The commentator/ owner is knowledgable and informative in a mildly eccentric, retired history/science teacher kind of a way. We actually visited on the penultimate day of our holiday. This was possibly a mistake as, even if the technological and historical aspects aren't for you, a visit to the Camera Obscura is, at the very least, a great way to get your bearings in Tavira.
