We stayed for two nights at the terrace house in the upstairs apartment (No. 2) There were two bedrooms a small kitchen and a bathroom, all very clean and comfortable. There is no lounge area in the apartment but there is a communal one downstairs if that's your thing. It's located right near the prison and markets a short walk to the cafe strip and a 15 minute or so walk to the ferry terminals for Rottnest Island. They were very friendly and helpful and we would recommend this place highly and will certainly stay there again.

We have just completed a 3 night stay at the Terrace House. The stay overall was okay but the whole experience has been ruined because of car parking problems.

The website advertises off street parking.... The only problem is, there are 4 car parks (1 per room) but, the way they are set up means 2 cars are always blocked in.

We contacted the owners as someone was parked behind us and we needed to checkout early and were told that it was our responsiblity to track down which of THEIR guests were parked behind us. Not something we were happy with coordinating.. least of all at 10.30pm!

Lucky for us we walked everywhere for our three days and were only inconvenienced on departure.

This accommodation IS NOT SUITABLE if you have a vehicle and require regular access to it.

We won't be staying again!

Clean, comfortable accomodation with excellent location. Excellent proximity to prison and the town centre. The Fremantle bus service runs from just outside the accomodation too.

Coffee, tea and breakfast was provided. We were given a loaf of bread and jars of cereal to eat in the comfort of our own room.

Overall, it was a great place to stay in Fremantle

We stayed at one of the Prison Cottages for 2 nights. We loved the accommodation, it was perfect, a short stroll into the town of Fremantle - close to the excellent market, the wharf for Rottnest Island, and many restaurants and bars.
The prison cottages have a wonderful history, built by prisoners using stone cut from the area and wood taken from the prison ships.
We found the accommodation clean, comfortable and the hosts friendly, and would highly recommend to anyone!

“Great location”

Fremantle Colonial Accommodation - Terrace House

We stayed two nights at 215 High Street - run by "Colonial Accommodation" - in Apartment 1, on the ground floor. It turned out to be a whole suite of rooms, and excellent value for money. We had two comfy beds, a living room with TV, bathroom and full kitchen, complete with biscuits, tea, coffee and milk. Outside, there was a little terrace, plus a launderette for guests. The only downsides were that the rooms were a little dark, and there was no breakfast at all provided on site. However, the terrace house is within easy walking distance of the centre of Fremantle.

We went on a tour of SW Western Australia and several days later came back to 215 High Street for an extra night - and this time just had one en-suite room (no. 4) - this was a little cramped, and perhaps a tad expensive for what it was.

215 High Street is also only a ten minute walk to the port - we'd booked a ferry with Oceanic, for our trip to Rottnest, and it was great staying so close to the terminal. The railway station was close by too. So the location is truly excellent.

One small tip - we'd booked a hire car with Hertz, only to find that their "downtown" depot was miles away. There are several good hire car companies within a short walk of the High Street - in future, I'd go for one of those.
