We stayed from April 20th to 27th. Hotel was better than expected after reading the TA reviews. Some days I wondered if we were at the same hotel that all of the nasty reviews were from. There are def some glitches at this resort. Nothing too horrible to write such disgusting reviews though.
Resort overall was fair for the price. We paid 2250 for two adults and one child. Very reasonable I thought. We paid more than that for two of us in Feb so I thought it was decent.
Rooms- clean. Bed was hard. Safe was free. It was digital. You choose the code. However make sure you secure the door and then check it. We had it pop open a couple times. This was our own fault of course so just be vigilant. Nothing went missing from our room which was good. We tipped everyday however. 3 pesos along with some toys. Air worked great. We started off in 700 block. Moved to 300 to be close to other family. Believe it or not both rooms were about the same distance from everything. fridge was stocked daily but if u left a note and some extra pesos you received more! Lol
Food- it was ok. You can notice they are going through changes. For instance. They have grills cooking at dinner but will only ask maybe 3 people at a time what they would like. There would be room for 10 steaks but only 3 on the grill. That was fine with us because we wanted fresh food. We were not sick during the stay at all. We took 2 pepto tabs every day during our stay and had no stomach issues at all. Could be why. My doctor recommended it. We barely ate off the buffet. Only a few select items. We had mussels and prawns cooked and they were great. Had chicken and took it over to the pasta station and had them add it to the pasta. That was great. A couple odd things in the restaurant. Spoons were. Hard to find. My son ate ice cream with a fork a few times. Used a fork or knife for my tea. Hoped the bag didn't rip. often it was difficult to get a beverage during buffet dinners. Sometimes it was halfway through your meal. They would have an item one day and then not the next. No bottles of ketchup one day and then 30 the next. Weird to me. We brought a small jar of peanut butter. That was nice. There was bacon every day. Fresh fruit was available but mainly canned on the main buffet. I was however disappointed at the bread and buns. They were soft at breakfast but they put the same buns out at dinner. Didn't understand that. Bread was so so. Buns were like cement balls. We used the sandwich press several times. I made grilled cheese sandwiches several times.
24 hour snack bar- Awesome! It is a restaurant during the day where u can sit down. They have cheeseburgers hamburgers bacon cheeseburgers all with fries as well as a few kinds of pizza and tuna sandwiches. We went there almost everyday for lunch. We did not do the a la carted.
Nolitours dinner- go for sure! Best dinner of the week. They had full turkeys and chickens as well as pork salmon shrimp. All the fixings. It was great!
BRING BUG SPRAY! Maybe it was only while we were there but everyone u saw was but something fierce! I used bug lotion and almost never was bit again.
Pools- beautiful. Very hard to find shade if u did not reserve. Towards then end of the week I reserved as we couldn't take that much sun. It's weird because there are umbrella stands everywhere without umbrellas!
Sunscreen. Make sure you take enough because the store only sells a tiny travel one. Maybe a couple of applications and they were over 6 dollars!
Double Decker bus- went to town. It was a fun little trip. Be careful if you sit up top on the outside seats. Several people were whacked in the face by branches. Beware!
Beach was decent. Not sure why people were complaining. It wasn't that shallow as compared to Cayo coco. There is some seaweed though.
Staff- were friendly. If you went out of your way to say hi they more than made you feel welcome. Please remember they do this for a living so sometimes they are not perfect either. Most of the staff went out of their way as long as you made the effort to ask how they were and offered them a smile first. It made a big difference.
Not sure if I left anything out but overall good experience. I would return for sure. This result involves a bit of walking which was fine for us. I felt bad for those with strollers. Please feel free to MSG me if u have questions. Squirlyburley@hotmail.com
By the way the glow in the dark show was pretty good at the theatre. We really enjoyed it
For those of you on your way to this resort. Have a great time and try not to sweat the small stuff! Cheers
