Found a listing in our paper for the Wiederkehr Wine Cellar under "family outings." The weather was gorgeous and we were entertaining older guests and a drive to look at the leaves and visit a winery sounded perfect. But my review of the "attraction" is short -- there is no attraction here and I'm not sure why you'd list this as a "family attraction." There was nothing there except the restaurant, a lot of old buildings that didn't seem to serve any purpose as far as a visitor would be concerned, and a store where you could buy some pretty bad wine (well, at least stay away from any of the reds -- worst wine I've had in a long time).
As far as the restaurant is concerned, I would rate it as "average." The best thing on the menu was the backhandel chicken, which was pretty tasty. The sausage platter was ok, but the "fresh horseradish" was anything but. The fettuccine was good, as was the quiche. They also had a good kinder (kids) menu (but don't order the spaghetti -- don't know how you can make spaghetti taste so bad). Really, the best part of the menu was the dessert menu. Go for the ganache chocolate cake with some ice cream a la mode.
